Default Worth it?

Got a notice from GM that the warranty is about to expire on my 2014 C7.

Cost for continuing the Chevrolet Protection Plan is $1,554 for 24mo/24,000 miles and $2,352 for 36/36.

Car odometer has recently surpassed the VIN # (6871) - yes, it's my daily driver, but I don't get out much. Average about 5 miles per day at an average speed of 23 mph.

Car has been in for warranty once: the programmable garage door button on the visor quit working and visor was replaced. Car is currently in for more warranty: the video screen in the center of the dash is acting funky.

A lot has been said about warranties on the Forum ... in the past I haven't ever purchased warranty protection (actually, I did once, but the insurance company went bankrupt so no recovery) but I am concerned about the cost of repairing the Corvette because of all the computerized gadgets it has.

Thoughts?

I would think Ken Fichtner could get you a better priced warranty. I WILL get an extended warranty on my 2015 C-7 from GM (probably from Ken) because the parts for this car are outrageous and labor at my dealer is 130 hr. Send Ken a PM for a price, he is a vendor on this forum.

Not worth it to me, a lot of upfront money to cover what may happen, but with your driving mileage I doubt you would incur that kind of repairs.
Overall other than the problems with the A8 tranny the C7 quality is good.

Yea, if you decide that an extended warranty (insurance policy) is for you, contact Ken Fichtner for best prices, much lower than you've mentioned. Peace of mind "can be" priceless. Depends on the person and circumstances.

Many like/want AM warranties, others don't. I do & chalk-up cost w/ other insurance payments.

You're right to be concerned, none of today's vehicles are 'cheap' to fix and that goes double for a new C7 Corvette. IMO, 'cheap' insurance. YMMV

You can get it cheaper with Ken Fitcher at Denny Menholt Chevy. I just bought a 7/56000 premium plan for less than $1,900. Mind than my car is new with just a few miles when it purchased. But, I'm sure you can do better with these folks. Pat Ryan is the contact person now as Ken is in a higher position.

BTW, like you I was concerned more about the electronics than the mechanical parts. So, I'm betting it will break, and they're betting it won't.

I wouldn't. Not for the miles/exposure you described.

I extended mine with GMEPP with Ken for 84 mos. for $955.00, albeit with low yearly miles.

Go with Ken. I extended my 2014, purchased in late 2013, through December 2019 for $1,400 and plus 60,000 miles.

I purchased a Zurich bumper to bumper, $0 deductible, 7yr/60K miles from my dealer when I ordered my car, for $1,100. Money well spent in my opinion.

No way take the gamble that you wont spend that much money on repairs until the extended warranty runs out.

Buying an extended warranty is like betting against the house.

If you live in Florida....Ken cannot sell you the plan. The Florida legislature once again ripped off it's residents by passing some stupid law that prohibits someone like Ken to sell the factory plans in this state.

Having said that...Insurance is what it is. You don't need it TILL YOU NEED IT. If you plan on keeping your C7 for a long time....I would get it.

There is a reason most of the skyscrapers in big cities are owned by insurance companies.
