Default Differences worth it?

So as I continue my obsessive research, I have obviously seen prices and features of all the C7 models. I can find the package and features I want for good prices for 2014 models, and am struggling finding everything I want in 2015's or used 16's. Are the upgrades in '15 and '16 worth settling a couple features such as 2LT instead of 3LT, etc? 14's will also be easier to grab in the next couple months because leases will be returned, but I keep reading about the updated software for the MyLink/Nav and not as many issues regarding screen flicker and things līke that. So if anyone has any info or opinions regarding this, please chime in! Thanks!

And I am currently favoring either Criswell Chevy, MacMulkin Chevy or Bachman Chevy since I'm in California and the prices here are MUCH higher.

Did you check with Boardwalk Chev in Redwood City?

I would buy a '14 3LT before I'd buy a '15 2LT, if condition were similar, and mileage not excessive on the '14. Others may have different ideas, but there really isn't a significant difference between any of the years so far, in my opinion.

I suppose if I were looking at one of the monochrome interior colors like black or gray, I might choose a 2LT over an older 3LT. I really like the upscale textures of the 3LT though.

Yea well that's the thing. I want Arctic White with the Adrenaline Red interior so the 2LT and 3LT makes a huge difference with the red in the interior on the dash which I love and think looks really exotic. But isn't the 3LT a Napa leather upgrade? While the 1LT and 2LT is a standard leather?

The 14's are obviously great cars, but the 15's are better as the 16 is better than the 15. First year models of any new design will always have a few more bugs than the next year and so on, because as things fail, they tend to update these things the next year. Not saying the 14's are not great cars, it's just going to be a little better each year following the same body style.

Well yea I know that, but I'm just asking if those minor tweaks are worth going to a 15 or maybe a used 16, as my pockets aren't as deep as most on here. I can find the exact package I want in a 2014 for around $53-55k. I haven't really been able to find the exact options I want in a 15 or 16 and even if I do, they're $65k+

I've purchased at least 2-3 dozen new or nearly new cars over the last 40 years, and I really don't think model year makes that much difference anymore. There are good ones and bad ones in both the first and last year of a model run.

I just purchased a 7/14 build 2014 2LT MSRC NPP Z51 convertible for $56K last week and it's a CPO car w/ the extra warranty that comes with those cars. It has 4K miles, and the service records indicated nothing other than 2 oil changes, one at 2K and one just before I took delivery.

I thought the Corvette model year change-over was end of June, so I was surprised to find a 2014 built in July 2014. It was sold and registered as a new car in March 2015 less than 5 months before 2016s started showing up.

Not only that, but the original owner had done a paint correction and ceramic coating application at delivery. It's the only car I've ever owned with zero orange peel, which is always most noticeable on black.

Beautiful car! I'm thinking that I need to get what I want regardless of year. This will be my first Corvette at age 25 and first car above $35k so I'm really excited and impatient but I need to be patient to not settle.

C7 Z51 3LT 7MT Arctic White Coupe with Adrenaline Red interior with red calipers. Would love exposed carbon fiber roof and carbon trim in the interior but I'm ok without both. The day I can pull the trigger cannot come soon enough.....

I ordered a 2014, 2LT and have had it since April, 2014... Not worth it to me to pay for any more. Not a single problem, and has never been back to the dealer.

My take on this for C7's, definitely 2LT at least and sit in both the standard seat and the competition seat to decide which you like best. The seat is where you spend most of your time. Everything else is just candy.

This may or may not be of significance to you, but the 2014 navigation system doesn't have the performance data recorder.

You found the answer to your question IMO. As long as the '14 checks out, that would be the way I would lean.

Eh the PDR isn't something I'd use anyway so that's not a big deal. Cool little tool, but I never track my cars and never go to fancy restaurants needing to spy on Valet's lol

Use a good 2014 as your base with your budget. If it fits, you are buying one of the best sports car values on the planet. If you find you can spend a little more, go for a higher content '14 or a '15.

Buying any used C7, regardless of year or trim level, will provide you with miles of smiles.

Good luck searching!

Thanks Mark! I think I'm phsyching myself out a little with the small 2014 issues I've seen. I'm sure it's just a small percentage and even if I have issues, that's what warranties are for (given that i find a low mileage '14 with warranty still left)

Yes, the 3LT has Napa leather on the middle seat panel, as well as the other leather trimmed surfaces. Unless you find one with competition seats, which are only available in the mulan leather.
