Leaded race fuel NO....unless you are running cat-less
Unleaded race fuel OK (93-97 octane) The higher the octane, the slower it burns...requiring higher compression (12:1 or more) to make the burn happen at TDC. If you run too hot of fuel in a lower compression motor, the burn will extend down the cylinder walls, overheating everything to the point of sticking pistons.....as me how I know

If you have a Z06/LT4 engine and are doing performance events or tracking, then blend in some unleaded high octane - that engine responds well to hi octane when pushed hard. For street use only you don't need it (unless you're doing repeated roll races in the desert heat somehwere. . . LOL).
I'll defer to the Stingray/LT1 engine guys for that set-up.

Octane reduces pre-ignition or detonation. This is important as the compression goes up. If the compression isn't increased there is no reason to use higher octane fuel.

If you want use unleaded. No harm and will only ensure your motor doesn't pull timing up top. It won't give you any HP with out tuning for it. Just ensures you will run safer.
