Thanks for posting the video. That trip is one I definitely want to do.

Yes---cool video, enjoyed, thanks for posting it. Two quick observations---need work staying on the right side of the road(especially w/ oncoming cycle traffic) and I didn't see any cops along the road, as some posters have complained about them cracking down on hot trips down 129(although only 5 min of video offered) thanks again---

They say that the thing that unites us all regardless of race, creed, education, bank account, etc, is that... deep down inside... each of us believes... that we are an above-average driver.
And presumably that's true of the moron behind the wheel of the Vette in that video.
It must be said that this video shows a textbook example of a really terrible driver. Apologies to the OP, but OP you should caption that video and this thread appropriately. There are people who would watch it and think it's an example of how you're supposed to drive a curvy road. The thread should be "How NOT to drive your Corvette on a public road".
The driver of that white Vette gives all of us a bad name. He or she desperately needs driving lessons, maybe starting from pre-license driver's ed and maybe (maybe) building up to Spring Mountain. At the speeds in that video, the Vette can easily stay in its lane, but the driver is totally clueless. Turns are shaped badly, brakes are used inappropriately. Terrible. And worse: this jerk will end up killing somebody.
Nobody should watch that video with other than revulsion for the complete disregard of others on the road. There is nothing cool about it.
OP, your Corvette club should be ashamed to be promoting itself with this video. There are other drivers out there who will watch this and won't understand how totally wrong it is to go over the yellow line on a narrow twisty two-lane road.
This video has bothered me since I first watched it and commented above.
People, if you can't stay in your lane: SLOW DOWN.
There are plenty of videos available of fatal accidents on the Tail of the Dragon. Here are some: https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...agon+accidents
Let's not push unwary drivers through bad examples into creating more fatal video opportunities.

I don't mean any offense to the OP here but... The guy in the white Vette has no business on The Dragon if he's going to drive like that. He's lucky he didn't kill someone. He needs to stick to parking at car shows and stay off roads like this one.

Cool video of the Dragon, aka Deals Gap. Its beautiful there when you can slow down enough to look at it. However, its not a race track. And I agree with posters who believe its of utmost importance to remain in your lane. The white C7 probably scared the begeesus out of the biker when he encountered the biker in a curve in the biker's lane.
I live near the Dragon and have been there many times. Many accidents and deaths occur there every year. I've witnessed a biker losing it in a turn. Seen the cops and ambulance crews picking up the pieces in other mishaps. Its a long way to medical help way out there.
The exits of many curves are out of sight until you are halfway through them, no way to know if there's oncoming traffic or worse yet, an accident in your way. Add to that the problem of watching the curve you're negotiating out of necessity and finding little time to look ahead cuz you're busy. My rule is don't be a dumbass on the Dragon, a bigger dumbass might be coming around the curve towards you.
Ya'll have fun out there and be safe.

Thanks foe sharing, but have to agree with the others on the lack of driving skills of the driver in the white Vette.

There seems to be some confusion out there about whether the Tail of the Dragon is a racetrack. Let me clear this up immediately: It isn't. It's a scenic drive. If it was a racetrack, the traffic would be one-way, the drivers would generally be trained and at least on some level certified, the equipment would undergo inspection prior to being allowed to run. Racers would be previously familiar with the track so they aren't surprised by suddenly coming into a curve they weren't ready for. Etc.
To sum up: Scenic drives with lots of curves are not for racing, displays of speed or other speed tests. They are for leisurely driving. If you want to go fast around turns, go to a track.

I visited the dragon tail two months ago and it was OK but prob. want return. I live in S.C. and there are plenty of crooked roads within 20 mile of my home so would not make the 2.5 hr. drive. The day I was there must have been Cooper day because that is all we saw. If U do go B safe.

Hate to say it, but that White Vette in the video has no business on the dragon or any other curvy road for that matter. He can't drive, and could easily injure or even kill an innocent person coming the other way in a car or on a Motorcycle.
I live 70 miles from the TN side of the dragon. I'm on it several times a year. Its simple to keep a C7 in your lane above the posted limit. Never drive your car over the speed in which you can stay in your lane at all times.
I also ride my motorcycles on that road often. I have had more than one close call do to some one using half or more of my lane.
Yes, the police are on the road a lot. Both in cars and Motorcycle officers.
I never go on the Dragon on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
Dragon really is not a scenic drive, very few good views. Charahala is a good scenic drive.

Wayah road, NC215, NC28 between Franklin and US74, US178 south of Rosman, NC281 all more fun than the tail of the dragon, mostly because there is much less traffic and no cops.
And to the poster above, my thoughts exactly. This guy has no business on that highway, over the line through the blind turns. Been on that road many times on a bike and can't tell you how many times cars come around the corner over the line.

The sign in the background of the last picture says it all..... Leave the Dragon to motorcycle riders. It was "discovered" by motorcyclists and made famous by them. "Cagers" need to discover their own fun road. I won't even consider taking any car on it.
