C7 A/C not cold enough?
#41
Today, it was struggling to keep me cool.
I had the AC on LO and max fan, and it was barely keeping me cool. Granted, it was in the low 90's. Then it started to rain, the ambient air temp dropped and I was plenty comfy. I couldn't slow down, however, and still stay dry, until I stopped under an overpass and put the top up.
I haven't actually noticed any difference in cooling ability between the C6 and C7 with the top up, except the fact that the C7 passenger vents can't be pointed directly at the driver like the C6, which can affect the comfort on hot days with the top down.

I couldn't stand it at 68 degrees. I seldom set my system lower than 73 degrees, sometimes I will increase the temperature to as high as 80 (after being in the office that was set to the low seventies and I am cold soaked through and through). My personal favorite auto setting is 77 summer and winter. I do drive top down with the air conditioner on when ambient temperature is upper eighties and higher.

I have the smoked top and with an outside temperature of 94 and
wife's menopause she's happy with the AC.
PS. I preferred when she was wet for different reasons, life is not fair.
I love my car.

Last summer I didn't recall a problem but this year it's definitely not cold enough... It can blow on full blast for an hour and I am still warm. I was about to take it in this week to get checked out.

Mine does not seem to be a cold as my C6 was, but it was an easy fix...just turned it down a few degrees. Although I wish that it cooled as well as my Regal GS, that thing will turn you blue.
It is just another item on the C7 that you have to adjust to, but most of the rest are fun adjustments.

In my mind, it seem that if the outside temp in ten degrees warmer or more the it goes into recirc no matter the fan speed.
I like to use manual and go max cool and then adjust accordingly. It works spectacular to me that way...Auto temp was not as good as I'd like imo...

FWIW I have a 2016 Traverse (Chev 6 Pass Wagon) and its AC is slow to cool cold. I think it is due to the chemicals used today and the **** poor design of the system. The 2012 Ford Cmax Hybrid AC was much better but it was a smaller car.

I've realized something that seems weird to me. I now have the "recirculate" button selected. If I push the "auto" button the "recirc." switch light shuts off.
I've assumed that the only time the hvac is in auto mode is when the "auto" switch light is illuminated, but I just noticed that with it off, the system appears to still be in auto mode. Adjusting the temperature controller changes the fan speed just like it does if the "auto" swith light is illuminated. In addition, the word "auto" is displayed on the screen when making temperature changes - even when the "auto" switch light is not illuminated.
So it appears we can have recirc. selected on, and auto mode functioning. Apparently it was illogical of me to think that if the "auto" switch light wasn't illuminated, the car was in manual mode.
My AC seems to be much more effective now that I've gotten past that oddly-designed interface.

I just purchased a 2016 Z06 and have to say I was wondering if I was just imagining that the AC did not feel cool enough. In comparison to my previous C7, a 2014 Stingray Z51 it doesn't feel as cold.

This is the first day I've gone for a long drive in 100+ temps. The A/C was blowing cold enough. As good as my audi. One weird thing....
I had auto turned off, front and bottom vents open, set to Lo, fan speed at 70%, re-circ off'.... and from time to time the fan would slow a bit then speed back up. Weird.
It might have been when Android auto was verbally giving updates. But I'm not sure.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Take a temperature of the air leaving the vents. should be 55 or colder, coming out....
set the cabin to recirculate. no outside air...... if your pulling in 100-115 outside air, the thing just wont get cold enough.
all the best

I have a 2015 Z. Last summer I had no problems keeping the inside cool. Not so much this year. I have set up an appointment to have it checked.

Another Q for the forum. Under WOT, does the A/C compressor turn off for reduced drag? I kinda thought so today during some spirited driving but hard to assess on city roads responsibly.
