I've been reading a few threads that I found in Search, but I haven't read anything about my problem. The infotainment screen went BLACK last night. This morning, the screen was still BLACK, but then, while driving to the Dealer this popped up. I snapped a photo. Just as quickly
it went BLACK again. Then it popped up again, then BLACK again where it remains. Any idea what this means and how to get the infotainment screen working again?

An update from the Dealer on my infotainment screen. My car is only eight (8) weeks old and has 2,250 miles on it.
After two full days of work and consultation with Chevy, they have diagnosed my problem as a bad "HMIM". They are calling it a "Human Machine Interface Module". I asked him to repeat it twice. They tell me mine is BAD, but Chevrolet does not have one to replace it with. They tell me HMIMs are VIN specific, so they can not remove one from one of the six unsold Vettes that are sitting in their lot. They "put the car back together" and told me to come in to pick it up. They have no idea when Chevrolet will be sending the replacement unit. So, I have no radio, navigation, back up camera, front camera, PDR, hands-free phone, blue tooth connection, etc.
I've googled HMIM, but nothing turns up. I think they are handing me a line of BS. Either that or they don't know much about Vettes.
If ANYONE from Chevrolet Customer Care is monitoring this sight, some insight into this problem would be helpful.
Oh, and one more thing. They asked if I had a battery tender for the car. I asked why they were asking. They said that the unit was powering up all by itself looking for an update. (That is the photo which is in my original post). They said that this powering up mode will likely drain the battery if the car is sitting too long, so they recommend using the battery tender until the repairs are made.
I asked if there are none of these units available, how can the production lines in Bowling Green be running? Why can't they pull one of these off the assembly line in Bowling Green, and send it to the dealer? He didn't know whether to shift or wind his watch with that one.
My frustration is growing by the minute.

Sounds more like it might be a code corruption issue rather than hardware? Human interface may mean it's a touch screen driver or somesuch. All this just a guess....
Mine just did the same failure at 170 miles, part is backorder with no expected delivery date to repair... Pls advise your status of repair.

Well, I am happy to report that my HMIM showed up at the Dealer after 10 days. My Service Rep scheduled my car for the first available day after that, and it only took one-half day for the new module to be installed. I can't blame the Dealer for this one, just Chevrolet on their lack of parts availability. After the service was completed, everything is good as new. No problems or issues to report after two months with the new HMIM.
So, I guess the update from here is to be patient, the wait wasn't too long, and you'll be back in business in no time.
Good luck!

2014 with 6,000 miles, infotainment just went dark and nothing works, nothing I do turns it back on.
Any thoughts? I hate going to the dealer without any info backing me up.
I think reading these other posts would indicate that its the HMIM unit. Lucky that your car is still under warranty. I don't know what these replacement units cost.
Just left deaaler service manager, they replaced HMIM Human Machine Interface module last thursday, system still broken throwing several codes they say indicate open circuit. I called GM help line, they were no help. Hopefully dealer can figure out soon, car in shop 15 days so far, today was day 30 of ownership.

This happened to my 17 GS with 750 miles on it in route to Carlisle. That updating screen stayed on for about 300 miles. We stopped in a rest area and let the car set for about 10 minutes and it reset. I talked to the engineers in the Corvette tent at Carlisle and they are aware of the problem and a software update should be at the dealers this week. I think they said the update was called a D3 update. Mine hasn't happened since. I'll be talking to the dealer later this week.
Thanks for all the support, I got my car back fixed today. 17 days to repair, bad HMIM and a open connection on the USB wiring in the center console requiring replacement. Reprogramed system and all appears to be working great.....Excited, time to enjoy...

Thanks for all the posts, it seems this system is full of problems, you can be assured I will get an extended warranty soon. Best deal I've found is out of the Bell Group bellgmpp.com, this is the real deal from GM.
Mine was fixed in 2 days, turns out it was an amplifier, which caused the whole unit to shut down,, would have cost $900 if not under warranty

My 2014 went black 8 months after purchasing the car (8/14), at Corvettes of Carlisle in 14 I was told by one of the Chevy Engineers that the whole Unit should be replaced, the dealership would only do a software update, the screen has been fine since. At the 2016 corvettes of Carlisle, Chevy had a engineer doing a infotainment discussion, he said that the 14's had a short wiring harness and on some cars there were issues after the screen was closed and opened. That would cause the harness to short out, the repair is to lengthen the harness, the issue within lengthen (he said is that the tech needs to know that the wire color was changed on the 15's and 16's).
