Getting my windows done next week. I didn't have mine done at the dealership with purchase. Couple of questions.....
1) Has anyone had issues with the back glass? I know the back glass on a corvette is a pain for some to tint. with the shape. but what I've noticed is trouble with the tint sticking to the top of the glass where the "corvette logos" are at. Anyone experiencing this issue? I've even noticed it on dealer tint jobs on new show room cars.
2) anyone have their windshield tinted? I'm not talking just a strip, but the entire window.
3) how dark did you go? I'm thinking about 20% on all windows and 35% on windshield
My tint guy had lots of experience with vettes so the logo gradient on the back glass wasn't an issue. I went 35% on the fronts, and 15% on the backs and rear. I love it, 20% I think would look good too.
Anything on the windshield that's even remotely noticeable is an instant stop where I live, not worth the hassle. Even the side windows aren't legal, but the police around here don't seem to care much about that.

I didnt do the windshield, but everything else is really dark. I dont think its a good idea to touch the windshield, especially if you are going to drive at night.
Air Blue 80 clear tint on my truck windshield. Legal
Not to be a party pooper, but my reason for not tinting my windows too dark let alone the windshield is due to liability reasons. Say, I am driving at night in the rain and hit a pedestrian. The police can impound my truck as evidence and the illegal tint could be used against me at trial (civil, criminal).
For those that have tinted the windshield, does it affect the HUD? I have my truck windshield tinted with 70% Huper Optic tint mainly to keep the Texas heat out. It is hardly noticible and really does cut down on the heat.
I am debating on tinting the Corvette windshield but don't want to mess up the HUD.
Had the windshield done with a clear 3m that stops a ton of the heat on the dash and the inside of the car. Great for a black car and doesn't affect the HUD. Rest of the car done with 35%.
I've had two of my other Vettes done, 96' at 2% (nothing on windshield) & 01' 5% (nothing on windshield) and i've never been stopped for it here in South Carolina. I don't want to go real dark on the new C7, so i've decided on 20%. Just never had the front windshield tinted before. I'm not worried about visability, its never been an issue before. Just worried about the back glass not looking proper. I've been watching videos on youtube of professional installers doing the C7 and they are completely soaking the doors/back hatch/dash when doing the tint. has anyone had an issue with this or getthing the electronics wet. I know these people do it for a living but makes me nervous when watching. I had a guy who did mine but he is too old to tint and crawl in the back of my car to do the back glass. just nervous using someone new.

What a lot of people forget is that most OEM glass on everything but bargain basement economy cars is already factory-tinted. Legal after-market tint percentages assume no tint, so if you add the darkest "legal" tint to OEM tinted glass, you're now illegal.
It is an incredibly bad idea to tint a windshield. I hear people claim things like, "it's not a problem," or "I can see fine," but those statements are absurd. The fact of the matter is reducing one's visibility at night is as irresponsible as wearing sunglasses at night while driving.
However, I'm OK w/ people using dark tints as long as they always leave the car in the garage after sunset.
I had the clear film applied to my windshield to help with the Texas heat and it looks great and doesn't affect the HUD at all. Also had no issue with the back glass tinting. I was worried with all the little logos in the glass that it wouldn't stick well but it looks awesome.
The lawsuit issue is kind of an urban legend or myth when it comes to tinting windshields. Out of every person you've ever personally known, have they or anyone they've ever known ever been sued for a tinted windshield? Not likely. Sure, you can google it and try to pool for cases. But even after trying that, it's extremely rare, and those cases weren't even won. I agree, ridiculous dark tint on a windshield, depending when and where you're driving, may not be a very intelligent decision. However, the whole fear of civil lawsuits in cases of accidents is pretty much irrelevant. Tickets, that's a different story. But again, that depends where you live. If it were common, a google search would yield hundreds of not thousands of cases. But it doesn't.

Reason: Add a sentence
Go with clear on the windshield. The technology of the new clear films has made a darker tint really useless on the windshield and certainly not worth the hassle you might get.
