PTM S1, S2, Race
I have a question that I am having trouble putting into words. Please forgive me if it comes out confusing.
I am confused by the PTM spectrum.
Does it go from very alert traction/stability control (S1) to almost none (race). If this theory is correct, Race mode will let me slide around a lot more.
Or does it go from loose (lots of oversteer) in S1, to buttoned up (very little oversteer) in race?

Seems counter-intuitive that race would allow you to slide deeper and longer than sport. The longer the slide, the slower the lap.

It's not progressive. Active Handling is OFF in sport 2 and Race. You don't slide further, you just spin. All you have is progressively modified traction control that allows a more aggressive map.
