An observation I made with the general public brings me to believe that all C7's no matter what options or model draw the same attention among the general public. I drive a Z51 which I like but does it attrack any more or less attention then a Z06 or a Grand Sport? Funny I saw a new base Corvette in white that looked really sharp. I don't thnk I ever saw one on the street before too many folks seem to mod their base car.
What do you think about what the general public sees?
They just see a Corvette. Unless you really pay attention, do some reading, and are truly interested, one Corvette will look exactly like the next, for the most part.
I think 90% of people don't notice anything around them including any type of car including the one they're in. I think maybe 3% notice a difference in some cars. Maybe another 3% recognize that it's a Corvette but not any model in particular. That just leaves the rest which is us.
I thought my white base model convertible with silver 18/19 rims wouldn't get much attention....but has received lots of compliments and positive attention- have caught people taking photos of it while parked, etc.
Not having all the extra scoops, spoiler, etc does give it a really clean, unique look.
I've never seen another base C7 convertible in San Diego.
Keep waiting for some smartass by-stander to say "Oh, you should have got the Z51, GS, or Z06", but seems like only Corvette owners know the difference.

So that is exactly what I was talking about. Personally I was blown away buy how clean and well proportioned base C7's really are.
The general public non car enthusiasts see a "New" Corvette. Some will ask ihow much hp it has, and most if not all will comment on how great it looks.
I think most people don't really know the difference especially if you have a lot of black accents like wheels or spoilers. A lot of people will ask me if my Z51 is a Z06 especially because it has the same grille and it's all black. People like us know to look for the side brake ventilation, wider body, large hood, wheel flares, and aero kits. Now GS vs Z06, that will be a tough one.
Why do you even care what the public sees? Look if you're buying a car because your main interest is in what other people view your car is, then get the cheapest vette you can.
If, however, you care about your own car and what performance then by a performance model.
#1 Question, "What year is it?".
Almost everyone I run into knows its a Corvette and most know it's the latest model Corvette, although they may not be aware that it's the 7th generation. But they have trouble identifying the year.

I get this question A LOT.
Base is easy to tell with rims- 2014/2015 very different from 2016/2017.
The Z51 wheel design hasn't changed at all from 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017- so no easy way for the casual observer to know the difference (they don't know about front cameras from 2016-on).
The average person doesn't even know it's a Corvette let alone what trim it is.
If I received a nickel for everytime i have been asked this question i would have a **** load of nickels.
I have been asked so many times since 2014 if this car was a new camaro.
Some have even asked me after walking up on it from the back with the word CORVETTE on it and said wow what kind of car is this? If slapping was legal my hand would be hurting alot.
