What is your protocol for checking brake fluid at the track events. I know many will bleed and use racing fluid but how do you monitor temps mid day to make sure the temp is not to high going into a session. I had a total brake failure in my second session from boiling the brake fluid on the first straight away. I do not want this to happen again. What can I do to monitor this in between sessions?
What fluid were you running? With a solid 40-90 minutes between most HPDE sessions, your brakes should be relatively cool by the next time on track. An early session failure like that sounds like you boiled them in the previous session and had air in the lines for the subsequent 'trouble' session.
Between two Vettes, a C6 GS and a C7 Z51, I have tracked Daytona, PBIR, Sebring, and Road America, I used Motul 600 in both and never had a single issue with boiling the fluid. These were all HPDEs where you run four 30 minute sessions per day. I did get a "service active handling" light once on the GS on day 3 at Road America due to the brake fluid reservoir being low from brake pad wear. A few ounces to top it off and the CEL went away
Also, it take 2 pints of new fluid to completely refill the whole system during bleed/flush.

Most Likely. I was running stock but I switched to Motul 660 but they still started to get mushy towards the end of just 1 session. This track (Eagle Canyon Raceway) was brutal on the car. I have had no problem with any other tracks but this one has a lot of 130mph - 20mph turns and I was really pushing the car with very late braking points.
I just would like to know what I can do to monitor temps between sessions as a precaution next time.
I like the idea of a disposable splitter but I am not putting $7.00 wood on 70k car. With or without a sticker. lol. I would want something more brittle and lighter. My luck, plywood would rip off my front bumper and then catch of fire.
