I put in the Z06 Carbon Flash front grill. Only true way to get rid of that bar across the front end.

Swap the entire grill with a z06... Its very cheap to get a z06 grill (400$ shipped) and it looks 10x better

Before changing to the Z06 grille, I used the Carbon Flash strip from VetteFX to cover that stupid chrome bar.

Electric tape here also. Buy a good brand. Has been on for months and lot miles. No issues.

I like the black look as well, and may try the tape idea. Was wondering if anyone has tried painting it with one of the plastic dip type products? Would that be another viable option?

Don't see why you couldn't use some Plasti-Dip to cover the chrome strip on the grille.

Others have done the plastic dip and is very good. You mask the grill are off before hand as if you are going to spray paint it, and instead you spray the plastic dip on it. It well peel off is my understanding if you don't like the results. But there are a lot of little creases and cracks in that area so I don't know if it would be a totally clean peel. Should only require a little nick tool to get the remainder of the plastic dip off. But it is my understanding it easily peels. I guess if you go to the trouble to use plastic dip on the grill bar then you are sure you want it and a peeling job wouldn't be an issue.
I used the electric tape to begin with because I wasn't sure if I would like the look and could easily be removed. I liked the look and it looked so good with just the tape I left at that.

Another option is to buy the 2016 blacked out grill from the EYT black out package.

I'll probably stick with the tape as well, at least initially. Seems like a simpler solution and easy to revert back to original. How wide a roll of tape do most folks use?

The standard 3/4 inch. It is a perfect match width wise. And get the best quality tape. Only a couple of bucks more. Clean the brace first with alcohol and make sure it is completely wiped down and dry.

So is the Z06 grill EXACTLY like the Coupe grill except the chrome strip is black, or are there other differences??? If there are no other differences, why not mask it off and spray it black with either paint or the PlastiDip stuff?

I did the exact same thing to mine, except that I got a whole large roll of the CF tape for like $9.00. Looks great!!

I painted mine with black Plastidip two years and over 10,000 miles ago. Still looks perfect, and a LOT better IMO than the chrome retainer strip.
