That's either a ruptured oil line or ruptured fuel line. Either way, not good. I'm guessing This pic is right before the driver stops and runs away from the car as the track guys break out their extinguishers. The driver behind this car probably thought it was cool, as he got to advance 1 position with racing for that position.

It wasn´t exactly a race, it´s called "tuner GP": once a year most german tuners meet on the Hockenheimring to see who´s car is the fastest. Each has AFAIK 5 laps, best time counts.
TIKT and Geiger are specialists for the Vette. According to TIKT, the VVT broke, resulting in a valves/pistons collision. (Hope I explained that correctly). Luckily, no one got hurt - but the engine is a total loss...
