I have over 4 hours of mp3’s on the USB thumb drive. I have also learned to use my iPhone as a Navigation tool. Due to the battery drain on the iPhone I plug the charger cord into a USB port. Since I have started this I have noticed problems using my mp3’s. I have discovered that I need to play my mp3’s first before I plug in the phone charger or my media function does strange things like not work at all (no source connected display). Any thoughts on this problem?
I haven't seen that. When I plug my iPhone in I usually run CarPlay with it and haven't had any issues with my USB drive. I'll check it out today, to see if it does anything odd. In theory, it should work fine. Lol.
My understanding is after the ignition is turned off, the power to the USB connections (except the one in the rear hatch) shuts off after a brief period of time. I have an ipod and Garmin GPS connected to the ports and haven't experienced any problems.

Get a cigarette light adapter with USB to use to charge your Iphone. Problem solved. (As far as I know, the infotainment system can only use one USB input for media. Having two input at the same time will confuse it).
I've had up to three USB media devices with music hooked up at once along with my iPhone with no issues. I click the media button to cycle through the different devices.
i have a flash drive in the hole. i have my android plugged in the console and also my wifes iphone in the console. i can toggle between the four music sources. when we got the msg (no source connected display) we think it was because we lost phone signal.
For what it is worth you can get a small USB hub and take only (1) of the USB inputs and multiply it by 3-4, it works just fine. This gives you all of those slots plus the SD...
