Sorry to see that happen, but glad you got it covered. Keep us posted on what happens with the repairs, including pics if possible.

Here's a thread about a launch control failure at Spring Mountain during a demo. It looks like he's driving away, so I assume he blew out 1st gear in the transmission instead of the rear end:

Here's the video:

Sorry man. After seeing them pop a few at Spring Mountain I'll never try it.

The thing is, when launch control is a factory feature of the vehicle....it should work without blowing out the rear end. I'm glad GM is treating you right.

Should, but often hasn't. A lot of Nissan GT-Rs came apart when owners were using launch control Initially, they weren't covering them under warranty, but that was such PR disaster, they quickly reversed course.

All this talk of 'blowing out the rear end', I thought you were talking about a LUNCH issue.

^^
I was actually thinking of GTRs while responding to this thread. A buddy of mine has an '08 that he bought new. They actually updated the software to show how many times Launch Control was used....I suppose as a deterrent.

My point is if its a factory installed feature than it should be available for use without risk of voiding warranty.

Cars like the GTR void the warranty if you use launch control more than a couple times, right? This tech scares me, its gotta be hard on the car, right?

@BEZ06 Wow, thanks for posting that video!!! Up till now I didn't hear of many failing. My buddy with a Mustang has Launch Control that you can adjust RPM from 3000-4500 I believe. The Corvette's 5000RPM is way too high with the torque the LT1 produces.

I will never use launch control. I always felt it was hard on the drive line components.

The new Mustang has brake line lock for doing burn-outs, and launch control. Then they put language like this in the owner's manual:

Page 12: "WHAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE LIMITED
WARRANTY? ...misuse of the vehicle, such a driving over curbs, overloading, racing or
using the vehicle as a permanent stationary power source"

It's quite a "Catch 22" as it appears the feature is included to sell cars and then used to void warranty on occasion, if they decide "abuse" is involved.

It seems that this car is more hype than reality do to GMs junk suppliers and the junk parts they produce for what GM is willing to pay them for. So you get what you pay for. Lets not be fooled this isnt really a legit track car if this kind of crap happens.

Launch control is a joke, I could not do better then 12.0's. What GM should of done is have a line lock instead for the heat-up. Some use it for bracket with a A8 but you well not get your best time or 60'.
