So far I experienced the opposite. When I took my first road trip from Oregon to Las Vegas in my new 2016 the entire drive cars moved over to let me pass. I never flashed my lights, honked the horn or got closer than 6 car lengths but folks consistently moved over. Since then more times than not cars move over when I drive the freeways, except when it's bumper to bumper traffic.
People are idiots, but two things happen in a sports car
When they see you a) target fixation and b) they don't see you because you're low and (see: "people are idiots") people don't know how to check blind spots or adjust mirrors (or *gasp* check them at all).
I get turned into and cut off on the highway a lot more in my Vettes than I did in my truck.
Also, people are idiots. Just do what we're taught to do on motorcycles- assume everyone is trying to kill you and just trying to use the element of surprise.

Happened the other day. Traffic signal coming up in about 1/2 mile, so everyone turning right eventually needs to get into the right lane. I'm already in right lane and lady in a truck in middle lane a car length behind me for a while decides to speed up quickly and cut in front of me rather than fall back in line behind me. She came so close I had to tap my breaks and slow down to avoid a collision.
God forbid if she should have to hit her breaks, slow down and fall in behind me where there wasn't a car within 5 car lengths. That would have been too much of an inconvenience for HER, I guess.
Corvette top was off so I gave her the index finger wag out the top of the roof AFTER I GOT BACK IN FRONT OF HER.
Same crap happens in our SUV. Ignorant, rude drivers don't discriminate.
Then the idiot going 55 mph in the fast lane and is oblivious to the world when everyone else is doing 75 mph. Then of coarse the tailgaters, lets not forget about these tools. I just can't wait to do it all over again on the 4 hour drive home on Tuesday.
We have an unusual situation here in more rural SC where I live. Some folks drive in the left lane even on 4 lane roads in town. If making a right turn, for example, some swing left first! Perhaps that's from being taught to drive from their grandparents who drove a horse and wagon! The only time I use the left lane other then when passing, is when the deer are active! Deer are our 2nd major potential road hazard! Gives me one more lane to have time to stop or accelerate! There are usually few folks behind me and if one approaches I move to the right.
Tailgaters really concern me. Never had an accident with another car in over 50 years of driving (looking for wood.) But with some folks having a "conditioned response" to look at who just left a message or text on their cell phone when it beeps creates just the distraction needed for a tailgater to be in my tail!
Like Pavlov's Dog, Unfortunately Some Folks Just Have to Look at a Beeping Cell Phone It's a Learned Conditioned Response!
This doesn't tick me off half as much as them people who drive around with only 1 headlight operating. I think this is an even bigger growing problem and shows signs of laziness and cheapness. It is horrible here in Ohio, seems that every morning i come across at least 10- 12 vehicles that only have 1 light working. I just wish these people would be held accountable like they hold truck drivers accountable.
I find people pull up along side and start to merge into my lane, they are looking at the VETTE and not where they are going. I do think the VETTE is a magnet!
More and more people at red lights on phones and they don't realize the light turned green, so they are still sitting there 3 or so seconds after the light turns green.
Now more so than ever I grab poll position at a red light.
....but if I can't, I leave room between me and the car in front of me so if the idiot in front of me is sitting at a green light putzing on their phone I can GO AROUND THEM if no other cars are coming up in the other lane. No horn needed, plus I hate to interrupt their phone call as it must be important.
we get a lot of these in fla. they like to run side by side with semi's, in the two left lanes, at 67 or 68 mph.
That wouldn't be me in the left lane.
However, in heavy traffic, it is just downright dangerous to run in the right lane in a vehicle this large because it always a game of chicken w/ the large number of drivers who are clueless about how to properly merge into traffic on a freeway.
Americans don't have a monopoly on clueless drivers, we have them here in Canada as well, left lane bandits, rocks in the stream (middle lane slow pokes), no-signal and last second lane changers. Regarding tailgating, I have noticed people like to follow the car, maybe they want to hear the NPP and get a sense for how much noise it makes.
As an aside, while driving to Carlisle in northern Pennsylvania I was impressed by the number of American drivers who moved over from the left lane to let us pass when we came up on them. Maybe just an out in the wide open spaces thing. In more urban areas people seem to be clueless.
Speaking of turn-signals, my general philosophy is to always use them for lane-changes on a freeway. However, in major urban areas, with constant heavy traffic, using your turn signal provokes many to speed up and close the gap, so you can't merge safely into traffic. Thus, as a matter of survival, I'm often forced to make "stealth" quick lane changes, or I'd never make many exits or be endlessly stuck behind someone going 45 in the right lane.

I've been in 4 South American countries this year and if I learned anything, it's that no matter what happens, never ever signal.
Do you think more drivers cut you off or are otherwise rude, when you are in your vette? This has been happening to me so much lately that I'm questioning whether it is random.
Yesterday I was driving the speed limit, there were no cars behind me, and a car at a produce stand across the street cut me off, then slammed on its brakes to make an immediate right hand turn. The car couldn't have waited until I passed?!? This was the worst example from yesterday, but I counted at least six similar instances over the course of the day.
Thoughts?!?
If you operate under the assumption that 90% of the drivers on the road are selfish, inconsiderate, unaware and simply idiots you will be correct 100% of the time. The remaining 10% of the drivers are okay but, unfortunately, they don't ever seem to be on the road the same time as me.
