Default Performance Data Recorder

Can someone please walk me through, step-by-step, how to set up the GPS Tracking Map on my Z06 PDR? I must be dumber than I thought. I read through the instructions in the manual and attended the Corvette Owners' School in Nevada where one of the instructors showed me how to do it: pass the start finish line, hit "start recording", then when you pass the start finish line, GPS will recognize it as a lap and will begin showing the GPS tracking map for subsequent laps during playback. He said it was not necessary to press" mark finish line". At least that is what I think he told me.
When I got home, I tried doing that and I could not get a course map to show up even after doing the lap several times. I'm obviously doing something wrong and I'm hoping someone here can help an IT-challenged guy out.
Another question is: assuming someone can get the setup process through this thick head, once I finish the laps do I have to shut anyting off before I exit PDR and when I go back to the course, what do I have to do to start the recording again? (just thinking ahead) Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide.

I think you are doing things out of sequence.

Ensure you are using the track overlay, start recording as you enter the track, when you come to a point you assume the finish line is hit the "Define Start/Finish line" at that point it will record lap times as you pass that point, when your session finishes just select stop recording. When you are back in the pits you can review the video.

Note: You will see nothing while running your session.

Some notes:
- Make sure you have configured the PDR (in the config menu) to put the overlay on the video (there's 3 choices plus none).
- You have to remember to start the PDR after starting the car (it does not auto start)
- Once you hit the "mark start/stop", it saves it on the SD card, so as long as you use that SD card, it will remember that mark.
- Remember to stop the PDR before shutting off the car. If you do not, you will not get a recording (there is some raw data file there, but I don't think anyone has deciphered how to recover the recording from it).

As described above. I asked a similar question this weekend. The one other tidbit to know is once you define a start/finish, that location is embedded on the memory card. All subsequent sessions will use that same coordinate so you don't have to do it every time unless you change cards.

And if you change cards and want to keep the same start finish line then you can copy the file".map.gpx" from the old card to the new one using a desktop or laptop computer.

I think I've got it. I guess my confusion came from the button on the PDR screen which does not say "Mark Start/Finish Line" It only says "Mark Finish Line". The other button that is available is the "Begin Recording" button which has been mentioned in this thread. I'm going to try it tomorrow on a cloverleaf nearby. If anyone sees me, they will no doubt figure the navigation system in the car has gone nuts, I'm too stupid to realize it and it is jut taking me around in continuous adjacent circles!
Thanks for all the help!

Right, it does not say "Mark Start/Finish Line". However logic woul dictate that if you "Mark Finish Line" it'd also be the start of the next lap - no?

And therein lies the rub. Everything I've read or been told says to press the "Mark the Start/Finish Line" button in PTR. Silly, illogical me kept looking for that exact verbiage instead of thinking the process out. You are absolutely correct but thankfully I've got it now and I can keep track of how many times I go around that darned cloverleaf.
