Any reason to stay away from 2014 model year?

Not like the 2005 C6, the 2014 is virtually problem free. The manual transmission is great and I like the extra gear. The automatic eight speed seems to have problems even to the current model year. You get the HD radio that I like and will miss with a later model year. The PDR wasn't offered, I certainly don't miss it. All in all a great car.

Addition to my earlier post; my 2014 has performed so trouble free l am afraid to trade it in on a 2017! I will miss the HD radio but I am looking forward to software updates and the front cameras. I am not a fan of the odd shaped steering wheel and wish it was an option. The PDR is a waste of my $1,000, unfortunately it has been bundled to the navigation system and I do want to have navigation. I am going with another base convertible, I would like MRC but again undesirable components have been bundled to the magnetic shocks driving the price up to $3,500. Lot of money for shock absorbers, so I am staying with the standard suspension.

Love my 2014, not a single problem, will keep it for 10 years.... then decide if I want to buy another one....

The question I'd have is did GM make any substantive changes to the 2015 or 2016 cars. For example, I recall reading that after a year or two GM realized the wheel bearings in the 1984 (yes, going back quite a ways) were not as strong as they should be, and updated them. No one would see that, but it matters. So I wonder if there were any not visible but important changes from the first model year of a new vehicle (2014) to subsequent years. There almost always are as experience with the new design mounts. I'd want to know that before committing to such a large purchase...

Have you ever heard of Tom Leykis? He did a bit about HD radio where you were listening to a ping pong game and he was commenting about the clarity of HD radio and it's compelling content... Totally sarcastic. Funny as hell.

I purchased a used 2014 and absolutely love it. My research showed the first C7s do not have the problems other first year models have had.
However, when I purchased, the 2015 leftovers were not 20% off like the 2016 leftovers are now. Also, I would only purchase a C7 if the full, bumper to bumper warranty is still in place (less than 36 months from in service date) and I would immediately extend that warranty only with a GMEPP warranty and factor that into your purchase.
One thing I did that you should do, ask for the warranty repair record for the 2014. If it's a problem car, you'll see it right away. If not, then you're buying a solid car.

Thanks for all the responses. Seems like while there has been the occasional issue, the 2014 MY as a whole is solid.
This is the next question. Is there a change list somewhere? I know PDR was added in 15, Car-Play and a D Shaped Wheel in 16, but don't know of much else.
I know the auto changed as well, I'm looking for a manual, so that change doesn't impact my selection.

I bought my 14 new and not a single issue or problem. None of the transmission problems that the newer ones are having. 14 is a great year!

I have one of the early production 2014 C7's (VIN 1818) and it's been a joy for the 3 years I've owned it. No problems, I still get lots of thumbs up from onlookers and it's still a blast to drive. My only regret is I don't drive it enough...

I picked up my 2014 this year, it's a 3LT Z51 M7, and it is the best car I ever owned! The only problem I had was the screen would flicker a lot at times, but the dealership replaced it. Other than that, I had no other problems and I love it so much. 2014s are a really good deal if you're looking for used.

I'd stay away from 15's (like mine) if you are going Auto, 14's are fine and later 16's and on are fine.

Probably the best move you can make. Prices are down and you can find any car you want with low miles. That's the hidden benefit of Corvettes to a patient buyer..........which I am not!

Just a note, I was not knocking 2014's or 15's. Just like any other car, as the newer models come out they add options, fix issues, making changes from what they learned.
2016's have an upgraded computer for the inside electronics. Have the carplay/AndiodAuto feature. Optional front cameras (Very nice feature). And more... don't know all the specifics.
As for in process changes and fixes... The rear end seals were changed in 2014. The originals dry out and leak in the cold weather from what I understand. Reported problems that I see people complaining of for the 2014's include the display for the infotainment blanking out or becoming intermittent. Slower electronics reaction time (noted computer upgrade above). M7 popping out of gear in the lower gears (not sure they ever fixed that).
To me none are really deal breakers but I would rather pay a little more and get some of the extra options than save a little and not have them. JMHO
