Not necessarily. Forums members with manual trannies might be more prone to read the post and then vote.

Although I would bet forum members do go manual more often than overall owners. Somewhere between your 2 above studies.

Hoonose,

Did you click on the link for my August/September poll above? I purposely tried to word it for zero bias. The title was, "Do you currently own a C7 auto or manual?"

I'm curious why you think active CF forum members who own manuals would be more likely to answer that question than auto owners, unless you think auto owners are less enthusiastic about their choice, and I seriously doubt that. With 425 responses and a 51/49 split, there were plenty of both.

My theory has always been that people who actively participate in internet car forums are "more enthusiastic about/obsessed with/interested in" (choose your favorite term) their cars than the general population.

Whatever the reason, the numbers are dramatically different from actual production numbers. Moreover, the difference between CF members and general population is way beyond the margin of error for that sample size.

I did not click on your link, and I own an automatic. I think your 50/50 split isn't far off.

But these are my observations, being on this forum and Corvette Club member since the C5 days. Just my opinion.

I do think that automatic owners are less enthusiastic. Or maybe I should say there are probably more that are 'less' enthusiastic. Manual owners today are still more often or typically more engaged. Wimps own automatics. (lol)

IMO the relative ratio of automatics is bound to grow over time. Due to demographics, and better automatic technologies. Dragsters already know.

And I would be sure to tell you that my previous Vette was a manual.

Personally, I have had both of my Z's in a Manual. I have had 2 Vert's with the paddles. The way to go for pure exhilaration is in a ZO6 with the Manual IMHO. Just saying....

2014 and 2016 are both M7. The 2017 GS is an A8. Like them all, but I swear the A8 seems quicker.

M7 for me.

If i have gotten a luxury performance car, AMG etc, then i have no choice to go with the auto. And IMHO, those autos seem to fit in those styles of cars, not the C7.

[QUOTE=Larry/car;1593248273]An automatic paddle shift comes nowhere near The fun factor of a manual.

Who cares? I never use my paddle shift.

I have an M7. I was originally going to buy the A8 but then I drove a friends M7 and I was hooked. The A8 may be slightly faster, but the M7 is much more fun to drive IMO

I just bought my 3rd new Vette in less than 4 years, all manuals. I never had much time driving an auto.

I drove an auto at Spring Mountain for just the wet figure 8 drill....I killed it trying to get it rolling.
