Default The "Little Things" thread

We have a thread for stuff we wished our C7 had, but most of that stuff is pretty big (ie: 550hp). Others require big design changes (ie: better visibility)

There are honestly more "little things" that I wish my car had.

I'll start with an example:

A pleasant chime instead of the obnoxious door chime. Likewise, a pleasant sound when I lock my doors rather than the horn blaring. Even Subaru does this- why can't GM on their flagship car?
I don't know what I'd do with it, but the speedo gauge is completely worthless. I don't know what I'd do with it, but it sucks.

I dont like my subaru chime at all, to unlock the rear you have to hit it twice which makes for four beeps...completely useless to have 4 beeps to let me know the rear door is now unlocked.

I would have to say small handles or dedicated grip points to assist with single person top removal.

Before I list any, I want to say that this is the funnest car I have ever had. My guess is adding too many minor things will add up to a major price increase.

But I would not mind having. . .
Blind spot monitors (yes, i know)
Neck warmers (my last vert had this)
Remote top up (we can add aftermarket)
Drawing a blank.
might think of more later.

How about memory settings for the passenger seat? My wife and daughter adjust the seat very differently.

Took a 400+ mile overnight trip last weekend, the longest trip so far in my new Vette. I had plenty of time to really get to know the car, play with the electronics, etc.

I was intrigued as to why the engineers and designers decided to put an analog speedo in that prime area left of the main screen. I never look at it to know my speed; I have both the HUD as well as the digital readout within the main electronic screen.

They should have designed two gauges for that spot: One for oil temp the other for oil pressure allowing for other options for those 'pocket gauges'.

Oh well...really nit-picking now. I really love this car...the more I drive it the more I like it.

Good times...

Well, the title of this thread is "The Little Things" Thread. It didn't say anything about what "little things" I wish the car had.

So I'm going to tell you the "little things" I LIKE about the C7. I like it that there's immediate and significant power when you put your foot into it.

What "little things" do you LIKE about the C7?

There.....much better.

Here's mine:

. Should have made it such that with an M7, when you turn off the car and are exiting and your seats are going to the exit position, that the car automatically applies the Brake.
. Remove the silly restriction that if you did not apply the eBrake when you parked the car, that the move to seat position #1 when you start the car still works.
. If the Auto button turns on the A/C, heat or whatever to get the car to the stated temperature, then tapping the Auto button again turns it off!
. Auto collapsible side mirrors.
. The ability to open the secret compartment not just when the front cameras are on, but when the rear camera is on as well.
. Remember my preferred Valet Mode Code so I don't have to put it in each and every time!

A little thing for me would be that the A6/A8 had the same option as the manual trans to have V4 only in Eco Mode.

How about just a few good quality speakers that sound good. Not a bunch of mushy crap.

Just dropped in two 6.5" Mid/woof with 1" soft dome tweets and a couple of 8" subs in my other car. Didn't cost much but sounds WAY better than the Bose system in the vette.

Manufacturers keep putting more and more speakers in when taking that same amount of money and putting it into a few quality speakers with a quality amp would sound so much better. I know it's a marketing thing and I spend most of my time listening to that sweet exhaust anyway so it's a little thing but the stock upgraded sound system really sucks.

The little things I'd like to see....

1 Being able to add 2 more gauges in the sport DIC display. Like the oil temp with oil pressure above it on the right. And two others on the left.
2 Being able to mix the performance displays with the information displays. Example, in information you get tire pressure but you have to switch to performance to get tire temp.
3 Would like to have information on the right side of the touring display mode like when in touring performance display mode.
4 When clicking the high beams on and off the texture of the handle wears on your fingers. Has a sharp lip in just the wrong place.
5 I want a button in the end of the windshield wiper control arm for either the single wipe or the washer mode.
6 The dash light dimmer is in a blind spot that can be hard to easily find, it would be better moved to the left side of the dash.
7 Speaking of dimming, the lighting by the shifter is too bright (PRNDM).
8 The mirror edges slant the wrong way compared to the rear window your trying to see out. The mirror is wide at the top but when looking in the mirror, the rear window is wide at the bottom.
9 The shifter should have the same ability as the paddle shifting. In Manual mode, you should be able to shift it at the shifter. The way Subaru does it works great. The shifter slides sideways for manual mode and then allows for forward/reverse movement to shift up an down (slap stick style).
10 The paddles for shifting or rev matching should be on the column and stationary and not turning with the wheel. It is difficult to use them in a corner because you loose track of which one you need to use. Or make them so they move in or out to shift up and down. Then they would both work the same and not mater which one you used. The reason the shifter should also give you the ability to shift in manual mode.
11 The HUD should stay with your choice and not switch with the display mode. If the DIC is set for auto based on driving mode, when you change from sport to touring it automatically changes the HUD to just speed.
12 The popup power port is stupid. It could have easily been flush on the lower part of the dash (in front of where it is now).
13 An adjustable driver side arm rest (height). There is just not a comfortable place for my left arm. If I could raise it 2 inches it would be perfect.
14 The floor mat retainers are in a bad spot and affect a comfortable foot spot when using cruise control on a longer highway ride.
15 The emergency door releases on the floor are just out of easy reach. In a tense situation that requires using them, it would be difficult. A better spot would be a flush release of sorts at the top front of the door panel (the flat horizontal area on the top). It would be MUCH easier to get to and intuitively to find in an emergency. As it is now, I feel like I'm a flight attendant every time someone new rides with me. "The emergency door handles are on the floor to your right and my left".
16 Auto head light sensors are too sensitive. In the morning when leaving for work, they switch on and off 4-8 times and it is plenty bright enough outside that they don't need to be on.
17 Would like the doors to work without having to put it in park. Not that I want to open the doors while moving but in an emergency park might not be an option. Or simply stopping to let a passenger out.

These are all "little things" but IMO would add some finishing touches. Maybe call it attention to detail.

I LOVE the car and really not complaining. Just a few thoughts.

Yes, wow . . . unfortunately for the manufacturers what some people want, others don't. Car design and features have to be a compromise, and you can't please all of the people all the time.

I would like to have those little turn signal lights in the door mirrors that I have seen on other cars.

The cornering function on my Ford's headlights is pretty cool, that'd be nice.
