Dropped the car off this morning. I ordered the Range Technology AFM eliminator, but haven't decided if I'm keeping the car if they can't make it stop shuddering in V4 mode. It's pretty flat here in central Texas and it spends a lot of time in V4 and the vibration is annoying. I can't believe that it's supposed to be normal.
NOT NORMAL. I would take the car to another dealer who has been replacing TC,S and Transmissions.

EXACTLY ! If the issue was " normal " it would be so noted in the owners manual ..... hope you got that in writing ..and also hope your concern was so noted also ..... start a file .... you may need it someday.

FWIW: I have a Range device for my 2016 A8. While it works great, about one time in 10 starts the car goes into limp home mode. Have to shut it off, remove the device and start over.
While Range has been great to work with (they've replaced my device 3 times), they admitted that they do not understand why these work without problem on some cars and not others.
I'd consider pursuing a proper fix and not relying on the Range, if I were you.
I'm still going to pursue a fix or dump it if I get tired of messing with GM, but I have to like driving it in the mean time. It just aggravates me that the car isn't fun to drive when it's in V4 mode as the whole car shakes every two seconds. If the auto only used v4 in the eco mode like the manual all would be good. The mechanic at the dealer claims they all stutter like that in V4 mode, but I can't believe they really do.
I have 3 1/2 years left on the warranty if I do decide to keep it, but the time limit for the lemon law runs out in February. It doesn't really qualify for the lemon law because I didn't take it in twice in the first year, which is required in Texas. I'm going to talk to the BBB to see if they can do anything for me, and depending on what they say maybe talk to a lawyer.
In the mean time, Don Ringler has it, if they don't do anything I'll take it to Don Hewlett in Georgetown. They sell a lot of Corvettes and may have a better service department.

I do understand the frustration. I was so concerned about them tearing into my car that I put up with it for 12,000 miles, about a year or so and because I like the car so much I let a good dealer have a go at it. I was very concerned about what damage might be done due to the very invasive TC replacement procedure. When I got the car back I looked at it very carefully and found no damage, all removed panels reinstalled correctly, no rattles etc. Unfortunately a few thousand miles later I needed the Transmission replaced and again because I was at a good dealer who had done a lot of these, I got the car back in perfect condition. At the time I thought the repairs would somewhat spoil the enjoyment of ownership . I have put that behind me and now several thousand miles later I am enjoying the car as much as when it was new.
Based on my experience , If you really like the car get it to a dealer who has done a bunch of these repairs, get it done, put it behind you and enjoy the C7. My mistake was fussing about it for a year before dealing with it.
I drove home fuming, the car shuddering all the way. Don Ringler's service department says the shuddering is normal and there is nothing more they can do. One good note--they said the transmission has 0 RPM slip when its shuddering so in all likely hood, the A8 is not the issue. I'm taking it down to Don Hewlett in Georgetown next week and if they can't do anything with it, I'm trading it. Life is too short to keep messing with this and having my teeth clinched every time I drive the car. It's a shame really as the car is a delight to drive in V8 mode. Why GM didn't design the auto transmission cars to operate like the M7s with AFM only active in ECO mode is a puzzler.

Sorry to hear about your problem. While not a perfect solution, and not excusing GM, the Range AFM device is not bad. I have been using this all season. While early versions would, on occasion, throw a CEL, the lastest version has been trouble free for me. (And even when the early ones did throw a CEL, you could clear it immediately by just reinserting the Range)
yes i concord, GM should fix this issues for once and for all, and eat the recalls and the margin loses. This is not normal or acceptable and never will be. I replaced my TC and now going again for a second time .... i never had an issue with my LS3 at all, getting a corvette c7 was one of my greatest downfall to headaches and issues .... there are thousands of post around the internet about this issue and nothing is been done about it. they prefer to deal per costumer's claim rather than do a recall and eat the loses ... get it right GM ....
Wow, I put the Range AFM module in and the car is a pleasure to drive without the V4 interruption. Makes me really lament the way GM incorporated AFM into the C7 with the A8.
