So after nine months I finally got my dealer to change the torque converter in my A8 transmission and it fixed the shuddering problem I was having in V4 mode. Now, one month and 500 miles later it's shuddering in V4 mode again and now I'm getting rough shifts between gears 1-5. It doesn't seem as bad from 5 to 6 or higher.
This time, the symptom isn't quite the same. Before it would shudder about every two seconds whenever the car was in V4 and quit when it went to V8. It was one very quick shudder, almost like a miss. Now it's a constant vibration that seems almost like a rough running engine, except it doesn't do it in V8 mode. Many of the shifts in the lower gears are abrupt, both up and down and the transition from V4 to V8 and back to V4 are not smooth like it used to be.
I'm dreading taking it back to the dealer again because I know it's going to be a fight to get them to understand and acknowledge what's happening.
How hard do you drive your car? Just curious.
I followed the break-in procedure in the manual, and have driven in a very spirited fashion sense then.
I have about 5800 trouble free miles on mine. I hope it stays that way.
You might tell the dealer you want a complete new tranny or your going to lemon law the car.
Good luck!
Do you not have another dealer to go to? If so, go there. If not, call/write the vaunted and esteemed Chev Cust Svc here on CF and ask them to intervene. I'm sure they'll post up about how they will make a call or PM you, or some such which may just get the job done.
I went through this, Calling GM customer service is a big joke they just call the dealer they can't do anything else and when you ask them exactly what their role is they will tell you they can't do anything but talk to the dealership. It takes threats of legal action to get anything done.

Not hard at all.

Ernest, honestly, I think you need to pound on that puppy a little harder.
Sometimes you just got to get the juices flowing to make things work right. What can it hurt?
Go find a road back road in Mexico, set your 0 to 60 performance timer up, and try and get it to the low fours.
Blow the boogers out of that transmission.
Just my two cents, good luck with whatever you choose to do.

If you're going to Temple, I think it's about time to head south towards Austin. In fact, post on the SW thread of the forum and ask which dealer in the Austin area ranks #1 for Corvette service. You have nothing to loose. And, there are some premo tuners in the Austin area. It would not hurt to ask them who they'd recommend that is local.
OK I have the same issue with my 2015 Z51 A8. Chevy reprogrammed the transmission which helped. They thought it was the valves in the exhaust, they changed them.
Right now the Chevy engineer reports that is a failure of some part in the 8/4 cylinder deactivation system. They are waiting for the parts to replace them currently on back order.
I echo some of the previous comments - get on the car a bit and see if it "relearns" for you - I had some 1-2 hard shifting that has pretty much gone away after some "fun" driving.

The service manager went for a ride with me and now understands what I'm talking about. The car vibrates any time it's under load in V4 mode. It doesn't if you're going down hill. I made an appointment to leave it with them for the 14th. I asked about replacing transmission and he said they'd talk to GM about it after testing the transmission. I'll try another dealer if nothing comes of this.
GM is replacing the Active Fuel Management lifters in my 2015. You are describing exactly the same issues i have and they say it is not the transmission. I should have my car back this coming Wednesday and i will let you know the results.

Their actual verbage is, " we add another layer of support", waste of time. Very nice polite professional folks but they can't make anything happen. Been there done that on another issue and am now going for the lemon law route.

My experience with GM customer service was that it was futile. They did nothing and really seemed to have zero ability to do anything other than call the dealer. I even asked to speak with a supervisor. Was told that in 24-48 hours I would hear from one. Got a call and was told the CSR I was working with never should have made the suggestions he did and would call me back. A week later - nada. Call him and all I get is "mailbox full - goodbye." Nearing a month later - like he disappeared into the ether - even when I've called back in.
The CSR I was unlucky enough to have to deal with just doesn't get it. You can hear in his voice he just wants you off the phone. I don't think they understand hard working people paid a boatload of money for these cars.
If your car is really broken, you may need to simply begin documenting and research lemon law. It sucks, it really does, but when paying 60-70k for a car, you deserve better.

Thank you Steve. Why am I not surprised. The m/o was the same. Here's hoping you can make the bash in April. Many of us look forward to seeing you again. Mike

I'll bring AFM up to the service manager when I take it in.
