Setting code on screen lock

Setting code on screen lock
2016 C7 stingray just purchased and don't have Valet mode, I don't think. Salesman did put a code to lock the screen from going up and down abut I cannot find how to lock it. I read the manual and said to go to home screen and push settings. My home screen does not have settings. Then punch in code on keyboard only key board I have is on the cell phone settings. Give me detail on how to do this? Does the engine have to be started to do this? Running me nuts.
Thanks syswayne

On the home screen you need to swipe to the left (like a phone) to bring up the second screen of icons.

Wayne,
Some settings are not accessible (grayed out) if the engine is not running or vehicle is in maintenance mode.
To enter maintenance mode and have all systems active without starting the engine press and hold the start button for about 10 sec WITHOUT pressing the brake or clutch pedal. The systems will remain on until you press the start button again.
Maintenance mode is a great way to sit and explore all of the settings on the info screen and DIC without running the engine. Just be sure to cancel maint mode by pressing the start button or you can run down the battery.
All C7 have valet mode. If you don't have PDR the screen stays up, glove box locks, and the convertible top is disabled. If you have the PDR it can be set to record in valet mode.
Enjoy!

Wayne,
It is VALET in the settings.

The following are all possible
personalization features. Depending
on the vehicle, some may not be
available.

To access the
personalization menu:

Page on the infotainment
system display.
2. Press the desired feature to
display a list of available
options.
3. Press to select the desired
feature setting.
4. Press o BACK on the
faceplate or press the Back
screen button to return to the
previous menu.
Personalization Menus
The following list of menu items may
be available:
. Time and Date
. Driving Mode
. Language (Language)
. Valet Mode
. Radio
. Vehicle
. Bluetooth
. Apple CarPlay
. Android Auto
. Voice

. Return to Factory Settings
. Software Information
Each menu is detailed in the
following information.
Time and Date
Manually set the time and date. See
Clock 0 94.
Valet Mode (If Equipped)

system and steering wheel controls.
It may also limit access to vehicle
storage locations (if equipped).
To enable valet mode:
1. Enter a four-digit code on the
keypad.
2. Select Enter to go to the

I've only used valet once to prove it works. This seems vaguely familiar.

Does your screen go up and down with the SCREEN button? Is the glove box unlocked?
If so, you are not in valet mode.
The strange thing about valet is that you choose a lock code every time you use valet and need to enter it, confirm, enter it again, then press lock. There is not a lock code that stays with the car.
Try with the motor running to see if all of these choices are present in you car's settings. Android auto may not be there if you have and early 2016 and of course no PDR if you don't have it.

Wayne,
OK, glad you figured it out. There are a bunch of settings to look at if you are so motivated. It's part of the fun! I've had the car 2 1/2 yr and still run across something new once in a while. I just reset the time in 4 cars and of course they are all different!
I'm also retired, but a bit younger than you are.
Be safe and enjoy the new car!
