Default Allocations

If a dealer tells me that he has an allocation for the car I want to order, is there any way to find out if they have the allocations that they say they do?

Yes. Place the order. Then on Wednesday of next week, have the dealer show you a printout of your order's "Order Detail". Under the "Model / Order Information" heading, look for your order's "Event Description". If that number is 2000 or higher, your order has been picked up; if not, your order is still waiting.

Allocations do not seem to be a problem at this time. The car industry is geared back for the upcoming winter season. Now is a good time to buy. I practice what I preach, my current Stingray convertible order has a TPW of Nov. 21st.

During a C7 plant tour in Bowling Green our guide said that they produce 172 C7s a day and everyone of them had already been sold. This sounded strange to me and then I realized that every dealer has to "buy" or consign them from GM at their risk so in a sense they are all sold from the general's perspective. I would encourage you to work cars.com too as I got a Z51 3lt that was better than I would have built for less than I expected to spend and it was just sitting in an indoor showroom in LA.

My dealer called me Tuesday and said I was at 3300. I went to Chevrolet.com (lower right side of screen) clicked on "Chat Now" Tab.
Gave the lady my order number and she gave me a TPW of 11/21. She also said she would update me this coming Tuesday (11/15) for any change in status.

Bye the way you probably know this but if by chance any rebates or incentives may be available Dec 1 for 2017 models he will include in my sale price. Probably will not happen but it's worth waiting to see if your car comes in a few days before Dec 1. before you take delivery.

A lil off topic but it is truly a buyers market. I sold my 14' due to wife medical issues that made in/out unbearable...once that cleared up got the "go ahead" to get another. I started with new 16's and put them against low mileage used. I never thought I would buy a used car much less a used vette. I found a LB-3LT-Z51 with MRC-CPO vehicle..loaded w/ 2.5k on the ticker. After the negotiation was over, $52k. This is a 74k car. Yes I had to spend alot of time on paint correction due to uneducated maintenance, also have it in the shop getting all small tweaks resolved (software updates, doors that are too hard to close, imperfections in the seat cover ect..). You do not have to look hard to find them and with winter about to hit...will only get better!!

They say they are sold, because they are - TO THE DEALER, that is the difference in the mind set of corporate vs retail
