New Corvette Grand Sport takes on S550 Mustang on the Strip
The new Corvette Grand Sport was engineered to be far better at tackling corners at high speeds than powering down straightaways, so how would it fare on the strip against an S550 Mustang?

I'm a little confused by the outcome. It looks like the mustang had a 10.981 time at 125 mph. A stock mustang GT with the power pack option comes with a 3.73 rear gears and 435 HP and I thought did times in the 13's. Was that a GT or perhaps a Shelby with 526 HP?

Most likely a modified GT. It's clearly got drag radials and an aftermarket spoiler. Still, it's not really what the Grand Sport is built for, so I wouldn't really get too worked up about it.

I agree with: "The new Corvette Grand Sport was engineered to be far better at tackling corners at high speeds than powering down straightaways..."
1/4 miles are OK, but after a while... what do they prove? Who's fastest in the 1/4 mile, which to some is not as important as overall capability. You take those two cars and put them on a road course, and I don't think there's any doubt the GS would win.
If you like 1/4's, that's fine. They should tale the fastest stock Mustang and put it up against the fastest stock Corvette in the 1/4 and be done with it.

I don't get it. The "editors" of Corvette Forum are constantly posting videos of Corvettes losing drag races. WTF? This one wasn't even a fair fight. DS = clueless.

It would be a total different outcome on a road course.

I just sold my 2015 S550 GT stock, and it will not even come close to the torque and power to my base 16 non Z51 vette. I have an auto in the vette, and had a 6 speed manual in the GT. The mustang felt a lot heavier and not nearly the "throw your head back" feeling as the vette. That one was clearly modded!

I do not get what this video or subject matter does to support or promote our cars...just do not get it and hope that those "driving the bus" stick to things that put our cars ina good light or effect our warrenty' s ....showing a C7 losing to and obviously boosted stang does not entertain me ....at alll

So a stock C7 GS loses a drag race to a heavily modded Mustang GT. Congrats to the Mustang but why is this Corvette Forum front page news?

Maybe someday every member will figure out a race between a modded car and one that isn't proves nothing and is a waste of our time, as well as a waste of space on Corvette Forum's server.

Of course the Mustang was Supercharged & modified. But the stock GS turned a 12.0 on his first run with stock tires! That's not bad. A little more experience and he's in the high 11's still on street tires. Not bad at all for "out of the box" guys.
