I have a 2016 Vert and the trunk closes without a problem EVERYTIME. I especially like the fact that all you have to do is set it down easy and it closes by itself.
This has been covered many times. One forum member bought all the parts and attempted to retrofit it. Last I heard, he still had not accomplished it. The bumper needs to come off, to install a new latch mounting bracket. Then the electric latch. Then the button to pop the hatch has to be rewired. And then there is the killer. The 2016+ latch controller interfaces to the GMLAN bus and tells the BCM when the hatch is opened through the bus. On the 14 & 15, the interface goes does not go through the bus and is a simple signal (I forget if it is ground or +12) to the dash.
The forum member even fabricated his own electric motor control but was unhappy with it so tried the OEM. It was almost $800 in parts list alone if I recall correctly. Now there are some salvage cars available so perhaps the parts could be obtained in a less costly fashion. Still, not plug and play at all.
Can it be done, sure - but I have not found any forum members with the expertise to do it yet and no aftermarket has attempted it to my knowledge.

Wow, I thought maybe there was a quick and easy fix. I believe that I will just continue to slam it closed. Thanks!!!
