Did you see some of the symptoms before the 10k mark, or was all working fine? From what I have been reading, 10k seems to be common for the problems to really show
My issues started right around 9700 miles. It started with a shudder while in stop and go traffic, then the rpms drifting while in cruise. Progressed to quick shifts, rough shifts and delayed engagement if I didn't come to a complete stop before going again. Like I said the Range AFM Disabler makes it 80% normal, I want it repaired
In Northern NJ I use Hawthorne Chevy and have used them for a long time. They've done everything they can to deal with all the trans issues, but its GM that makes everything as difficult as possible. Early on we went through using experimental software to resolve some issues, then ripping everything apart to deal with a Torque Converter failure, and now taking it apart again to try to solve the cold jerk-into-gear issues.
So they do have experience with tearing apart and re-assembling the transmission and experience trying to deal with GM on the issues.

I appreciate your input. Did the torque converter replacement solve the shuddering and shifting issues? It sounds like they are willing to work with you to resolve your issues which is good. The service people at Kerbeck just kept up with the line that they never heard of any tranny issues. Pure bull****.
I figured with as many Corvettes as they sell they would know of the issue, but they just kept saying they know of no problems with the tranny. Called my salesman there and he said the same. I'm just looking for a dealer who has dealt with it already
liar liar his pants are on fire .. deny is easiest way to avoid issues...if he or they admit to a problem with the tranny's ...that would come back and cost sales ...
Kerbeck's response is preposterous! Whoever you talked to is blowing smoke.
Absolutely correct. For as many cars as that dealership sells, you cannot tell me they have not heard of or had problems with the A8. Disappointing to hear that a high volume Vette dealer would make that claim.

A high percentage of Kerbeck's sales go to out of towners but you can't convince me that they have not seen some A8 cars with tranny issues in their service department. I would talk to the Service Manager. Maybe they subcontract out all their service work to someone else.

I talked with a large forum vendor yesterday about a GS and inquired about the A8 issues. He told me how many he sold last yr and this yr and indicated he had heard of no A8 issues. I just find that hard to believe. We should start a post or survey asking how many have had problems so we had hard data and confront GM with it. They know about this but it is all about the bottom line, money.
Maybe that's how these mega dealers sell their Corvettes' for less. No service, never any problems with the cars they sell. Sometimes it may pay to shop local and hold your head up when service is needed.

Funny, the one problem I haven't had is shuddering.
The torque converter replacement did not fix the shifting issues. We hoped it might, but it didn't, that's why it's in again now. The torque converter got replaced because it had a hard failure (locked up on its own and wasn't responding to computer control).

I live in Manalapan, but would take the car to any dealer that has done them before with good results. I will contact Hawthorne since that dealer was recommended by a member here
with all the C7 issues that appear on the forum owners still by and large LOVE their C7!

Tranny was fine until about 10,000 miles and i started to feel all of the symptoms, delayed engagement when shifting into reverse and forward, shuddering when going from V4 to V8, rpms moving up and down when in cruise. I used manual shifting for a while but that started to get worse, got the Range AFM disabler, which allows me to drive it at what I consider 80% normal. What I'm looking for is anyone in New Jersey that has had their A8 repaired that can make a recommendation of a dealer to take the car to. I purchased it from Kerbeck, but they told me yesterday that they have never heard of any problems with the A8. I appreciate any recommendations. Thanks
update to my previous post. I just got off the phone with all american in middletown, while they seemed very knowledgeable talking to them, they DO NOT have a dedicated certified corvette tech. I am still bringing it to them tomorrow for the airbag recall and TCM reflash, but i will be hesitant to bring it to them for a TC replace if and when i need it... this sucks, not being able to trust dealers with your car...

brought it to all american today and they did the recall and updated the TCM to the latest version with no problem or hesitation at all. I was expecting them to take for test drive to try to replicate hard shifting or what have you, but the tech just looked in the system, saw that there were updates and because i complained of hard shifts, updated the firmware. Don't know if it worked yet cause the drive home was brief and now in the 20's, but if i have to get the TC changed, i think i'll take it back there.

I recommend you find a dealer with at least 1 certified Corvette tech AND one that has some experience with replacing a TC and stator support. My car ended up at a local dealer that did have 2 Corvette techs but they had not replace a TC. In the end it worked out OK but I didn't like being a guinea pig. Good luck. I still have at least one hard shift if the weather is cold and I haven't driven my car for a day or so. I'm going to live with this because once the car is warmed up the shifts seem to be fine and I am not having any fluctuation in the RPMs at cruising speeds. Good luck.
yes, Paramus chevy. They have one of the best corvette techs in the area, and the service writer mark. they are both very aware of the shudder problem. I belong to a corvette club in the area and they all use this dealership.
