Has anyone removed the tacky looking center console plaque? If so, what did you do about the holes and indentation where it mounts? I'm thinking about picking up a spare center console and molding it smooth where the plaque/badge used to be. While I'm at it, I'd want to get rid of the pop-up power outlet and Big Gulp holder lid, too.
Curious to see end results if someone has done anything similar.

To be honest, other than the pop up cigarette lighter (useless to me with the USB right there also), I actually like it. There are pieces available aftermarket, FYI. Many vendors here have carbon fiber pieces, etc. good luck.

^^^ I like the trim on the steering wheel and Console shifter, but the shades of the red do not match the adrenaline interior colors, it would look much nicer if the color matched.

Reason: No need to re-quote the previous post, especially if you're the next person posting.
Check with Greg @ autodynamicswest.com. He has them in real CF without the aluminum trim. Just ask him for a picture of both sides of what he is going to send you so you don't end up with one that has extra holes, or broken clips in exchange for your pristine core.
Also consider doing the concole base too if you want it to look right. On mine, I could not remove the cig lighter socket, so I ordered a new one for a few bucks and snapped it right in.

I have urges to remake the console section (fiberglass, probably) to get rid of the pop up accessory outlet.
Move the cupholders back just a scoche, and put a cell-phone sized tray in front of it with a QI wireless charging coil under it.
Now we're on the same page. A phone tray would be ideal.
One of my cars has a soft-touch rubber and aluminum tray covering the cupholders rather than a chintzy spring-hinged plastic flap. It's even the perfect length/width for an iPhone 6/7 (non-Plus) and the height of the lip keeps it perfectly in place. Pic below.
Having this piece molded longitudinally into the console would be ideal, or even the entire cupholder unit from BMW if you care to have cupholders in your car.
Nothing unrealistic or cost-prohibitive to do here. ****...I'd pay a lot for what I'm envisioning. It's just going to take some craftiness and creativity.
If you come up with something, I'd like to see it! I've just gotten used to the Vette.
Sure thing. Brought it up to a friend who manufactures polymer hardware and he said what I have in mind would be quite simple. Hardest part is going to be finding someone who can match the factory carbon fiber to my standards. For example, in the pic above posted by Steven Bell...I wouldn't be able to live with that. An easier route would be to cover it in factory leather.
I'll buy a spare center console or two to mess with. I'll also be doing something to those embarrassing shifter paddles repurposed as rev match switches. Deleting both and mounting a switch somewhere is too big of a project, but keeping one with a paddle modded to be as small and discreet as possible shouldn't be bad. This almost has higher priority given mine will be red and I'll be forced to look at them every time I drive.
There's good reason why Corvette interiors have been the laughing stock of the performance automotive world for generations. Thankfully, cheap plastic is easy to mold and play with.
Has anyone gotten creative with modifying the center console cover in a C7? I'm not a fan of the design whatsoever, from the flappy cupholder/outlet lids and separate-but-not-really shifter trim, to the ever so cheesy plaque at the front of the piece.
I'm thinking about picking up a spare unit and molding the entire piece smooth, then having it covered in leather. Better yet, having the entire piece done in carbon to match the factory dash.
It probably would be pretty simple to modify the panel that holds the pop-up power plug/lighter, cup holders and Corvette plaque to eliminate any or all of these, and then cover with leather or faux carbon fiber. Doing much with the panel around the shifter, I don't know, since there are functional pieces there (shifter, mode switch, parking brake) that you wouldn't be able to move or eliminate without major work. That panel also could be covered, of course.
