In the process of buying my first Corvette - a 2017 Grand Sport 2LT. I'm trying to figure out how often I will need to buy new tires. Note that I won't ever be tracking the car. I00% street. Just curious how long your tires last. How many miles before needing to buy new tires. Thanks. Welcome your input.
Well that certainly depends all on how you drive. Baby it and they will last a long time. Drive it and ahh, bad news here, you'll eat them up. Not saying these cars have way too much horsepower but I have to suspect Michelin was in on the gig. Probably not the best car to be concerned about tire longevity with anyway.
10k with lots of life left on my base with Z51 wheels/tires. 1 track day. That kinda tore up the tread but it's looking better a couple thousand miles later. I figure they will go 20k. Maybe a little less if I do the Iowa Speedway Karl Chevrolet track day again next year.
13k and will only get around 15k. I think that road composition makes a great difference. Around here the roads are very abrasive. My driving isn't all that aggressive.
Some people are just tougher on tires than others. Sort of like shoes. But I got 25000 miles on the stock run flats on my C6. And I had over 130 1/4 mile runs on them. They still had enough tread on them but I had to get rid of them because the rubber was getting too hard and wouldn't get decent traction any more. I've noticed the Michelins on my Stingray are way superior traction and sound wise to the GY's on my C6.I have over 11K on them now & they still look pretty good. Just sayin"
42K+ on the fronts, ready to be replaced.
Rears still have plenty of tread, I expect at least 50K
Apparently I am not having enough fun....
