Default Center console warm

I realize the exhaust and torque tube runs through the middle of the center console, But it seems to get very warm under normal driving conditions. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't seem to keep my beverages cool. I hope I'm not being nitpicky.

Assemble your smores at home and then tuck them in there when you leave. They'll be ready when you get to your destination.

Yes. Put your cookie dough in there before you go for a drive and you'll have a nice batch of baked cookies when you arrive home. Provided you are driving at least a half hour.

Supplying heat since 1963. Don't know why GM hasn't resolve this.

Check into aftermarket heat shield fix.

I had to have Dynamat put in my C5 it was so bad. It definitely cooled things down and it was quieter as a bonus.

Have not really experienced it in my C7.

I should be warm, but not hot... Not sure how you would define "very warm." If you feel that it's excessive, then take it to the dealership... but most likely it is typically heat generated by the torque tube and exhaust.

GM addressed this in the C6 run and again in C7. They added some heat and sound deadening. It will likely never be totally remedied. Not at least until the mid-engine. time will tell.

My cellphone is usually inside the console since I'm using AA. This adds to the heat level.

My C7 feels like the Arctic north compared to the '72 I owned. That thing didn't need a heater in the dead of winter.

I kept mine in there also and never noticed the heat. I was surprised when that was mentioned. Granted, I rarely drove it more then 45 minutes each way before it went into the garage for winter. Speaking of which, looks like you are not too far from me. Do you drive in the winter? That salt\brine they put everywhere for the ice storm made me realize I made the right choice about putting it away.

That it is! The C6 got hot enough that there's even a cookbook thread.

Nothing to worry about. It's normal. My C7 is not as bad about this as my C6 was though.
