I realize the exhaust and torque tube runs through the middle of the center console, But it seems to get very warm under normal driving conditions. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't seem to keep my beverages cool. I hope I'm not being nitpicky.
Yes. Put your cookie dough in there before you go for a drive and you'll have a nice batch of baked cookies when you arrive home. Provided you are driving at least a half hour.
I should be warm, but not hot... Not sure how you would define "very warm." If you feel that it's excessive, then take it to the dealership... but most likely it is typically heat generated by the torque tube and exhaust.
GM addressed this in the C6 run and again in C7. They added some heat and sound deadening. It will likely never be totally remedied. Not at least until the mid-engine. time will tell.
My cellphone is usually inside the console since I'm using AA. This adds to the heat level.
I kept mine in there also and never noticed the heat. I was surprised when that was mentioned. Granted, I rarely drove it more then 45 minutes each way before it went into the garage for winter. Speaking of which, looks like you are not too far from me. Do you drive in the winter? That salt\brine they put everywhere for the ice storm made me realize I made the right choice about putting it away.
