I've been checking prices on cars to compare. To get a slower mustang GT you have to kiss 50 grand to get leather. To get a SS Camaro about the same deal. They pile every electronic gimmick they can until that magic word 'leather' shows up. You can get a REAL sports car (C7) for 50 grand, leather, more HP. better handling. lighter, way better looking...

The Camaros are a little on the high side...but the Mustang GT Premiums (with leather) are dirt cheap. You can get one with performance pack for 32k and never have to haggle.
Ponder this for a moment my Corvette brothers and sisters. On the exact same day I brought my brand new Arctic white base C7 home, my neighbor one block over just happened to be bringing home his new white Camaro SS with black wheels home, just like my Corvette.
After speaking and peacocking for a few minutes I realized that my Chevy soaked neighbor was scared of my Corvette, ANY Corvette. We both could easily tell that we were within pennies of the same cost per car but some how he could not bring him self to admit that he could actually own a Corvette, ANY Corvette.
Intimidated he was? Image issues? Or did he just prefer an unusable back seat?
Have you driven an SS? I sold my 2016 2SS to get back into a new GS. Let me tell you what, as much as you might not like to admit it, that SS is a killer car with certain advantages over the vette. This coming from die hard vette guy. Better, more modern electronics, better seats, blind spot monitoring, more roomy interior, driver modes that you can actually feel a substantial difference between settings and an exhaust note in the NPP that makes the hairs on your neck stand up and puts the C7 to shame. Anyone who slams on the Camaro hasn't driven one. Honestly, I'd take a 2SS over a base vette any day. Hell of a fast, refined and comfortable car. I miss aspects of it everyday. And my GS is a 2LT car that's nicely equipped.

I have to say that the SS exhaust note w/ NPP is killer.
The big dealer that starts with a "K" has brand new 2017 Corvette coupes for less $50K on their lot right now. I suspect we are going to see lots of bargains during the winter months. Seems a lot of folks are on the sidelines waiting to see what happens with the 2018 models.
I somehow think and this is only my opinion that Chevrolet will not let a model investment end after only five or six model years. Personally I think the earliest we will see a C8 is 2020. But what if the rear engine Corvette is actually a Cadillac?
