I have a question regarding some "clunking" noise coming from my front wheels when I make fairly tight turns it happens on either left or right turns
Going very slow. The last time I was backing out of a parking spot , cleared the cars , while moving forward Turing to the left. The sounds " clunks" start and you feel it in your steering wheel all is ok when you start to straighten it out My car is a 2014 Z51 I think I read something on the forum about this. But I can't find it. Any help on this would be great
It is to the arc of the front wheels following different curves along with the super wide tires in sharp steering maneuvers. It is called the Ackerman Effect. Due to the Vettes Chassis design it has been noticeably inherent in all Corvettes since the C5 although I could feel it now and then in my 86. Pretty sure I never felt it in the 69 or 71 but it has been 30 years since I drove one of them. It is more than clunking one or both of the tires is sliding sideways until you relax the steering a bit.
Thinks for the info Bill, I had a 2001 C-5 and never felt what my c-7 is doing. But the tires on the C-7 are a lot wider then my C-5. Again thanks. I'll relax a little
