Default Oracle side markers

Learned my lesson today and will never purchase from Oracle Lighting again. 3 out of the 4 C7 side markers stopped working properly within 8 months of purchase and they will not honor their 2 year warranty because I did not paint them. Why would I order tinted lenses if I'm going to be forced to paint them?!? I asked the warranty rep if painting them would have kept them from failing and he said NO. WTF!!!

That is crazy

I know one other member that had one fail and they replaced it.

LEDs are supposed to have long life.

Maybe you need to go up the management chain?

I'm going up every chain. Just entered my complaint with BBB, they already have a D rating :/

i need to do better research before purchasing. Can't stand companies that do not stand behind their product!

You sure they did not think you painted them (instead of did NOT paint them). I can understand them refusing to accept a warranty return if you modified them (painted them), but these clearly do NOT need to be painted.

Their product description:
Product Description:
Concept SMD Sidemarker lights are complete sidemarker replacements fitted with high powered 3528 Bridgelux LEDs that produce a laser-like appearance. Installation is easy! Just pop out the factory sidemarkers and connect the new ORACLE Concept Sidemarkers right into the stock plugs.

Product Specs:
  • Bridgelux 3528 LED's (Made in the U.S.A.)
  • Direct Plug & Play
  • 5 Minute Install
  • Produces a "Laser-Like" appearance
  • Fits directly into stock sidemarker moldings, no further modification required.
  • Will fit every 2014+ Chevy Corvette C7 model.
Obviously, their product description says nothing about having to paint them. I assume the detailed instructions included with them also say nothing about having to paint them.

Their warranty:
Warranty:
All ORACLE Products carry a Limited Warranty on parts. We will replace any defective part free of charge once defective part is returned. Customer is responsible for shipping charges. Warranty does not cover damage due to mistreatment or improper installation. We do carry a full line of replacement parts, please check our "parts bin" section.

Trust me, I was as confused as you are now. Normally it's the complete opposite as you stated. I sent emails to their entire executive staff, plus the BBB.

I did receive a reply back (let's see how it ends up):

Hi Carlos

I’m sorry that your lights are not working. Painting the lights does make a difference on the lifespan of the side marker, I’m not sure why that was miscommunicated. Here is the disclaimer listed within the packaging and on the website below.

Also, I would be happy to waiver the voided warranty as a curtesy for you. When I get to the office tomorrow I will send you an RMA # and the information on getting it replaced. We do recommend getting it painted in the future.

Disclaimer:
ORACLE Lighting offers these parts professionally painted to order. We strongly recommend using this painting service when ordering these parts. If you choose to paint these products yourself please note that parts not properly painted with a UV clearcoat will not be covered under warranty. The clearcoat protects the acrylic parts from harmful UV damage and fills any pinholes preventing moisture issues.

I’ll be in touch very soon.

one of my oracle side markers also went out , and it was only 6 days old . they did replace it but the RMA they sent did not cover the shipping cost to send back so i had to pay out of pocket, it was only a few dollars but just the fact that they couldn't get that right

Received excellent response from their executive team and issue has been resolved. New markers should be here next week.

Now if they could just get the rear driver's side one to actually fit like the other three

If anyone still has a failed unit, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it to determine the point of failure.

I just noticed two of my leds on rear passenger are out. Only 4 months on the car and maybe 1K miles. Time to call Oracle and see what kind of treatment I get. I did smoke and clear coat so they have no reason to reject the warranty.

I ordered a full set of side marker lights, about a year and a half ago. The back lights quit working after about 6 months. I purchased them from West Coast Corvettes. Oracle replaced them, but I had to pay for shipping. Last week, both front lights quit working... first the left side and then the right side quit one week later. I’ve just requested an RMA. I’m sure they’ll warranty the lights, but this is very annoying. The shipping isn’t much, but just one more thing. These lights should have a lifetime warranty. Painted, they’re about $350. I’ll let you know if I have any problems.

BTW, mine were ordered paint black. They look great on my Long Beach Red 2017 Z06. It’s a great product when it works!

I’ll update this message when I hear back from Oracle.

(Old thread...but): I agree! What is the story with that one light? These lights work perfectly in the year I've had them (painted), but that drivers-rear light has a oh-so-slight fitment issue. It doesn't detract from the overall lighting and look, but it is something an Oracle lights owner would immediately find. One thing I'm sure of, these lights look fantastic and I wouldn't want to go back to OEM.
