Pretty shocked at Z06 insurance quote I got
So I am going to be adding a Z06 to the stable, and I was pretty shocked at 2 quotes I received. I am in NJ.
$1937 - State Farm for the year
$2750 - Geico.
I currently have State Farm now and I have a new Mercedes AMG C43 as my daily driver (6 cylinder TT and awd). I pay $1188 a year for that. I didn't think the Z06 would be that much higher.
No points, accidents, or claims. I am the only driver on policy.
Any other folks have similar experience, either in NJ or another high cost state like NY, California, CT, etc.
I had an 08 LS3 Corvette from 2010-2013 and paid $987 a year on that.......
Update on quotes based off company suggestions:
Liberty Mutual: $1702
Amica: $3268
Travelers: $1144!!!! WINNER (No apparent reason why they differ so much with similar coverage)
Another update! I called and spoke to them and they can do better! $1068 / year!

I'll recommend Wawanesa Insurance to you; not sure if they're in your area, but I've used them for close to 20 years here in California. Very reasonable rates and excellent handling of both small and large claims.
Just added my new Z06 to our policy and it was around $1000 or so per year.

I have Geico but they wanted $1100 every 6 mos. I threatened to leave for USAA and they miraculously were able to lower it to $380.

Was thinking of trading in my '14 on a Z06 so I called NJ Manufacturers to see what the increase would look like. Turns out it would only increase $80 going from $1000 to $1080. That's for full coverage with 5,000 miles per year allowance.

The Z06 base price is almost $15k more than the C43, and if you load both cars up, that can increase the different to more than $30k. Add that to the almost 300 additional HP that the Z06 has, your likelihood to total one, combined with the cost to replace it, is probably significantly more than the c43, so that's probably the math the insurance companies are using.
How do you like the C43? We love our C450.
For those looking at the OP's rates, realize insurance in NJ is much more than many other places in the country. Mine went down significantly when I left and move to a still very high-cost area of the country.

I'm in NJ, and we went with Hagerty, which is "classic car" insurance. It's based on your stated value, and that it's not your daily driver (you put in your estimated mileage when you do the online quote). We have Progressive on our other cars, and Hagerty was much cheaper!

If it is a daily driver, then $2k from State Farm for NJ is very good.
I had priced my 2014 Stingray and 2017 GS with Geico for giggles - the 2014 was $2,250 and the GS would be $2,520; American Modern is $725 for the GS (3k mi/yr), while my 2014 was $575. Just for comparison, I pay $1,900/yr for my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and my Wife's 2017 Acura RDX together.
Insurance in downstate NY is expensive.

35, clean record but currently involved in a lawsuit over a car accident that I claimed someone else caused.
My GS was 880 a year which shocked me at how low it was when I was told. The rep told me the Z06 would have been double.

In NJ contact amica....they have beat state farm that has my two homes in half..
Amica should charge you a reasonable amount.
State Farm is out of their minds in what they charge..
I'm in New Jersey so I hope my insight helps you.

Call NCM for an insurance quote. It was by far the cheapest for me with the best overall coverage.

1) You live in literally the most expensive state as far as insurance goes.
2) Your LS3 Vette wasn't worth almost $100k
Why don't you just get collector insurance? No garage?

And i was ticked off with AllState when mine went up from $300 to $340 every 6 months for full coverage. I called Allstate to find out why it went up and the lady said the point system on the Z06 is higher now. I think i'll stop complaining after seeing what others are paying.

These threads are always useless since there are so many factors in determining rates for people. The best advice is to get several quotes, at least 6 or more. Also remember the rates vary greatly depending on how many miles you plan on driving the car.

I do have a air temperature controlled garage, so who mentioned that, thank you as I may be able to get another discount with that. Going to try a couple other brands mentioned as well.
Please keep any and all input coming... again no points, married (no points or claims for her either), multiple degrees, garage as mentioned, etc. the quote sounded nuts to me.....
