Default C7 tow hooks

I'm wondering if most C7 owners cary a tow hook in their car. Apparently there is a spot for it but GM doesn't include one. My Chevy dealer couldn't find a part number for one.

There are aftermarket ones available. Some are kind of pricey, like on the order of $250 / set, but they look like works of art. There are a couple threads on using "standard" hardware to make a set.

Euro builds come with the tow hook. U.S. builds do not.

That is the correct part number. You can find them for about $80 from discount part suppliers.

By the way, I was surprised to find out that the base (non Z51) Vette does not have the receiver for the hook. Glad I did not buy one. To install the receiver, the front bumper needs to come off--so I think I will pass.

I'm pretty sure its a Euro requirement to have a tow hook. All of my German cars had them including my VW in high school.

Only cars built for the European markets and the Z06 have attach points for tow hooks. So unless you have a Z06 a tow hook is not going to do you any good.

that's not correct, Z51's have the tow hook receivers in front and back

And yes, I carry 2 hooks

Just a question. Why would you need two hooks? They can only pull you out in one direction!

If you track can understand the hook is useful as they would have the proper hook. If you need a tow on the road will the AAA driver even have the proper size hook that fits the small eye? The hooks they use to latch onto the "A" frame may be too large.

I know that is NOT the proper way to pull a Vette out of a ditch or onto a flatbed but may be what he has on his winch. This is not Europe where they no doubt are prepared with the proper hooks.

And that's not entirely correct, either. Early Z51's, built before some time around November of '14 don't have the receivers.

This is the correct answer. All Z06s, GSs and all Z51s built about the first of December of 2014 and forward have the hook receivers. No other C7s have the receiver.

No North America delivered C7s came with the hook. There is a spot molded in the battery cover for it but it is empty. Hooks can be purchased from GM or the aftermarket.

I have a dealer on ebay who makes the recommended tow solution that works for all of us. He will make the double length v bridle shown below at no extra cost if you just call him and let him know.

Works on every C7 with or without tow hook receivers.....

Tee hook to lifting puck slot. Cost $44<br/>

Front or back tow with no damage

Here is the ebay link:

Thought htere was only one hook receptcale on the front and one on the back. That is all I ever see it pics. Are there two spots to screw in an eyebolt on both ends? Hence the need to have a double hook strap??

relax...

When I bought them from Zl1addons, they had 2 hooks, one with a longer shaft for the front, and 1 with a shorter shaft for the rear, and they came as a set, so I bought the set. Just that simple.

Why does everyone need to be a friggin know-it-all, assume everyone else is an idiot and be aggressive on this site?
