Would you mind telling me the state, city and name of dealership. I'd like to call them to see if they have any stock on hand. Could you send me a private message if possible.

Had the windshield replaced in my 15 this past July, took about a week to get it.
GM glass and HUD. Local Vette shop took care of it.They had a local windshield guy do it that they have been using for years and he did a great job.

Well, after gm told me it would be till late feb or early March, I went to bed that night woke up and said. NEVER SAY DIE.

I woke up at 5am, starting calling every Chevy dealership across this great land. After 27 dealers said nope, that I'm **** outta luck, and that I should give, I CSLLED THE 28th AND FOUND THE LAST POSSIBLE C7 windshield HUD in America 5 hours later. !! It is in shipping, I'm tracking it, and it's now sitting in a FedEx warehouse for delievery on Monday. Not gonna lie, I feel pretty damn proud.

Now I gotta pray to god the glass traveled safely. Weather looking good for next weekend here in California. Pacific coast highway here I come. Nothing like life in a corvette, amen.

Did a rock/stone take out the windshield from truck/car?

No quite the freak accident happened. I was driving down highway 101 in California and a flattened cardboard box flew up in the air like a kite in the sky. It was wiz you back and fourth and looked like it was going to go over me or come down a few lanes over. Then suddenly it smacked my windshield and only my windshield THANKFULLY missing any body panels. I couldn't switch lanes as there were cars on each side. It all happened in a split second.

I always drive with the PDR on caught it all on video. Anytime I show anyone everyone is blown away how 1 out a million it was. I was pretty upset but again, happy it only damaged the windshield.

Hope the installation of the new windshield is satisfactory.

Be sure to inspect the windshield before they start to remove the old one. Unfortunately, many replacement windshields from GM have defects, especially the rubber gasket/seal along the top.

When my dealer ordered my replacement the parts manager said about a 1/3 of the windshields had to be replaced/reordered.

Very good thought.
Inspect the new glass before removing the original windshield.

That's the thing, my car has been sitting at the shop without a windshield because they did in fact take the old one out before the new one came , which really upset me. This is why I've been without my car since november. They have thrown so many free things and services my way because of the huge mistake and unconvinced. This will be the 3rd windshield being delivered because the last 2 were damaged in shipping. The dealership that sent this one sent pics and assured me it's in conidition. They will only ship to dealerships directly because if they are damaged, the liability would not fall on me. I just pray it stays that way.

A dealership in Iowa told me the reason they are on backorder is because gm is looking for a new manufacture of windshield because the old ones would damage easily in shipping. And yes, many of them are damaged when shipped. When I called around the USA for them, almost everyone had one in stock, but they were damaged. That's what made it so hard to track one down.

Clearly a case of P*SS poor logistics management on GM's part. For a car that sells 30K+ units per year, finding a windshield should not be a problem. Pathetic!

I've had mine ordered 10/18/2016, they finally sent one to my dealer, but it was for Cadillac CTS-V.

Back in line.

Yea, man that sucks. I be the the issue is that the windshield part number has changed 4 times. I learned this during my search. Could easily get confused with cts model. When searching for the windshield make sure you reference you vin number not the part number. Because if you search by vin it will populate the latest part number in dealership system.

Happy to report and update that I got my car new windshield installed. I called 27 dealerships across country. Found one. I suggest if anyone is desperate like me who was waiting at least 2 months like me. Just call around.

Congrats on your hard work paying off. I am surprised your dealership would not do a computer search for national dealer inventory for you which I think should have found what took you a lot of time and effort ?

Anyhow, all is well that ends well !

What happens is when the dealership searches for a part in inventory it might show 1 or 2 at any one dealership, but when you call it doesn't specify if those are in order for other customers. It also doesn't take into account damaged windshields in stock. So basically each dealership would be like, I have one but it's damaged. Then they would run a search and point me in a direction of another dealership. Then I'd call them and they would tell me, sorry that one is on order for a mother customer. Basically rinse and repeat the process.

The only reason i found once was because a customer bought a new vette in August, cracked his windshield a few weeks after. Brought his car in for a new windshield and was put in queue. They told him it would be months. So he just traded his vette for a new one. Took a loss because he didn't want to wait. So I got the windshield that was delivered that was supposed to go on his car.

Very good information. Thank you.

I have only 18k miles on my '15. Nearly all The miles are road trips at higher speeds. The windshield looks like it was lightly sand whipped. Does anyone have this experience at low miles?
