I would not buy a corvette without the NPP exhaust. Non npp mufflers are just too quiet in my opinion and I"m not interested in paying for another exhaust system so NPP is the way to go for me.

Yep, had NPP on my C6 and now on my C7 and will have one on my planned GS. Even if I had to pay ~$1100 would probably get it BUT FlowMaster mufflers cost about the same and IMO have a better sound at all speeds! I'm sure Bola and others have similar sounds but at a higher cost.
NPP is good enough for me but may install a switch or remote relay on the GS, but sound is not optimum. It's harsher than a well designed muffler with open butterflys and too quite when they are closed.

My 2016 Coup is 4 months old , pulled fuse 42 and sits in the glove box. Car sounds great I wish it was a little louder. I do not notice any bad sound when In v4.

There are two sets of butterflys, one pair in the exhaust pipes up high before the mufflers. They are still activated to restrict the exhaust in 4 cylinder mode. You have prevented the butterflys in the mufflers from closing.
Others have reported a drone when cruising with the fuse pulled. If like my C6, the drone depends on the speeds and if in 6th gear when on the interstate. I installed a switch on the console that put the fuse back in the circuit when it occurred.
I always have my sound system playing "Oldies" when driving to drown out the tire and road noise. Perhaps your listening to heavy metal at high volume!

yes I do hear the drone on the hiway. I don't mind lol. Next year I will either get a borla or corsa x-pipe only. Hope that helps with a little more aggressive sound.
Stingray, I don't know how many answering your question purchased a used C7. I did and NPP was a "must have" for me. When I communicated with dealers via text or e-mail, because they were too far for a quick ride to see the car, if the car didn't have NPP, dual mode exhaust the dealers wouldn't answer the question. I found several cars that seemed to be a good deal, but when I asked if they had NPP, I got the "I don't know, it's loaded, why don't you drive out here (250 miles) to see this Vette".
Knowledgeable dealers with a used C7 know this is a VERY popular option. If their car doesn't have it, they don't want to divulge that knowing it's a deal killer.
In your shoes, I insisted on any C7 I looked at having NPP. I have it and enjoy it.
One more comment, If you're not already aware, in 2014, NPP was NOT standard on the Z51. While it's rare to find one without it, non-NPP 2014 Z51s do exist.

If the drone becomes an issue you can add a remote relay for about $15 to switch the fuse back in when desired. If you're handy there are instructions with pics on the Forum for DIY. Also recently a kit is offered that provides the remote relay, wiring and instructions. It's called Mild to Wild.
In a recent thread some were surprised to see the OEM C7 has an X-pipe. Vettes have had them for some time. However the Borla and Corsa systems eliminate the small secondary CATs! That is what makes the more aggressive sound. Have to watch for state and possible warrenty issues.
OEM left with CATs, Borla center, Corsa double X pipe right.
There is a very mild drone w/ the NPP fuse pulled at highway cruising speeds. It's not particularly objectionable like I've experienced on some aftermarket cat-back systems, but it's there.
The Mild-to-Wild device for $60 or so is worth it for the times when I (more accurately my wife) prefer quieter highway cruising. It takes less than 30 minutes to install, and most of that is involved with tidying up and hiding the wires.
