Anyone know how i fix this? Is this repairable or is it in need of replacement? Thanks - Mike
A few folks replacing the shift **** have reported this issue. On the last page of my PDF about installing a cue ball shift **** shows a picture one poster supplied to me: http://netwelding.com/Shift_Knob.pdf
You'll see his solution was to remove the ****, pop off the boot and then secure the boot with a piece of wire tightened in the groove you can see in your pic.
Unfortunately, I think your best bet is going to be to turn the boot inside out then you can use a small zip tie to secure it to that ring. It's not that bad a job if you're inclined to try it. Otherwise you could crazy glue it I guess.
Yup... Take the panel off with the boot... Turn the boot inside out and resecure it to the locking ring with a zip tie... Mine was secured with a zip tie from the factory... If you need instructions for removing the trim and panel, go to the MGW Shifters site and watch their install videos.
It's actually attached with two little staples through the leather and into the ring. If you have a staple gun strong enough you can try that or the zip tie.
Thank you for the replies everyone. I do have a staple gun so I shall take it apart and make the repair. I considered getting the suede boot I feel it will look funny with the leather ****. Again thank you for the help and replys. - Mike
I don't know why nobody has said to take it to the dealer for a new one. Very few C7s are out of the 3 year/36k mile bumper to bumper, even late 2014s still have some time left. Call your dealer, ask for a new one. Worry about garage fixes after the warranty is up.

Warranty would cover it. However I am a service manager of a car dealer ship ( not Chevrolet ) and its like not wanting to eat at a restaurant after working there. I have a recall on my daily driver and I am still worried about bringing it to be done cause of what goes on in the dealer ships. If I can fix it easily I rather do that. I will give it a try. If I have trouble I will go the dealer.
I wouldn't bother taking the car in for service for something like this. A dab of gorilla glue will hold that thing in place forever and you'll never have to worry about it again.
I'd like to see a picture of that. Mine had no o-ring it had two staples. The o-rings came with the new ****, two thicknesses. To keep the vibrations down.
