Going forward lose the wax. Get a wipe on walk away (WOWA) product like Blackfire Crystal Seal and wipe it on the whole car in 20 minutes, stand back and admire. Leaves no residue or build up on the expel edges or white crap on trim. You'll feel guilty because it's so easy and looks so good. Lose the old ways and get with the times.

There are specific detailer brush made for every aspect of your car. Why use a tooth brush which have all sorts of types of bristles in them when for a few dollars you can have the proper tool?

That is what I do too - I just use my fingernail under a good microfiber cloth and it works fine. Plus I already have bunch of fingernails right on my hand, all of the time.
If you have a dark color do not use a toothbrush - it will scratch the hell out of your paint.
