Install --> Stock 2LT/3LT C7 Sub-Woofer enclosure that goes across rear wall
Have any of you installed the Stock 2LT/3LT C7 Sub Woofer Enclosure that goes across Rear Wall into a 1LT car?
Did it give the extra bass you wanted or expected?
Anyone have installation instructions, or a link to a write-up where this installation was done?
What all did it require as far as adding an amplifier? ...and where did you tap in to add the amp?
Thanks

I have a 3lt and the sound is ok. It's not great, but the Bose system has broken in. It's a loud car as it is, so I've decided at this point not to attempt anything with the stereo. If I was going to add a sub to it, i would upgrade over a Bose though.

I'd assume it will sound like a 2LT-3LT. I wouldn't do it. Adding up the parts and it looks like ~$800 to do it. Just isn't an $800 improvement, although my only experience with the sub is a 2LT convertible. I have a 1LT convertible...

Used, on Ebay, you can buy the Bose subwoofer for $80 to $150, the Bose amp (the 2LT/3LT version) for $250 to $350, and a new rear plastic trim panel (has the grill opening for the sub) for $125 (new GM).....so the total parts cost ranges from $455 to $625.
A new aftermarket J&L 10 inch sub, in a custom sub box, and an amplifier, will cost about $700 to $800, but probably will sound better than the factory Bose subwoofer.
If you go the aftermarket J&L route, you will have to disable the active noise canceling feature of the factory Bose system. Easy to do, just clip 2 mic wires at the rear factory amplifier module (or pull the mic pins out of the connectors, so its reversible). Both the 1LT and 2LT Bose systems have active noise cancellation.

A 1LT does not have the harness between the amp and the back wall where the sub enclosure is. It is just 4 wires, about 4 feet long. You can get the contact pins to install into the connector body that plugs into the amp.

Lots of very valuable infor in these threads, quoting them to preserve the links for my own future reference to make it easy to find them later by looking through my posts list.

By using this OEM Sub enclosure, couldn't I just put a J&L Sub in it and run it to a seperate amp?
That's what I am thinking of doing.
Skip trying to use all the stock amp and integrating it like factory.
Just add a PAC thingy and an amp and unplug the BOSE mic??
Is that what would work and sound good??
