I currently have a Deltran BatteryTender that I used on my previous vehicle. I picked up my 2017 Grand Sport this week and want to use this tender but I do not have the adaptor to use with the rear power outlet. Two questions: (1) can I hook up the tender directly to the battery as I did in my other vehicles or is that not recommended for the C7 with the battery in the back and the rear outlet as the recommended method? (2) Can an adaptor be purchased seperate from the tender or do I need to get a new one that includes the adaptor? Thanks.

Does your line to the alligator clips have a quick disconnect feature? If so, then you can get the plug in adapter. Simply unplug the clips and plug in the cigarette style adapter. They are only a few $$, usually around $5 total from Amazon with shipping.
Yes, you can purchase the 12V plug-in adapter for the BatteryTender. I've seen them on Amazon. You can also hook it up w/ alligator clips either on terminals under the hood or at the battery.
I've used the Deltran Battery Tender for over 7 years on four different vehicles with no problems. FWIW, on the C7 I connect it to the positive terminal and alternator bolt under the hood. Works like a charm.
I've used a Deltran BT Plus for 12 years on many different kinds of batteries including the AGMs in my Harleys, C2, C6, first C7, lawn equipment, etc. My new GS came with the overpriced CTek which I'm now using on the GS. I don't know about the B&D, but if it craps out early you've wasted $20.
for $27. You could likely beat Amazon's prices if you search around a bit. I've never used the Junior but it will do the job maintaining a battery that isn't too far discharged. None of these mentioned would be suitable for quick-charging a dead battery, but I have charged a nearly dead car battery with the Plus. IIRC it took a while, like a full day or more, but it did recharge it. The durability of the B&D unit is questionable, IMO, based on comments here and my general experience with B&D products in the past. I usually avoid them.
BTW, either of the Deltran units will require an accessory adapter for the lighter socket in the trunk of the C7. These are inexpensive at about $7.
The JR works great. Easiest way is to connect under hood.

I would pass on the B&D and go for either a Deltran BT Plus at $50 or a BT Junior for $27. You could likely beat Amazon's prices if you search around a bit. I've used the Deltran units on everything from lawn tractors to motorcycles and cars for many years with no issues. However, when I bought my C7 I figured I'd move up in the world. I sprung for a couple CTEK 4.3s when Amazon had them on sale for $68. According to their literature they can "recondition" a battery and extend its life be desulfating it. Not really sure how this works but I do like that you can vary the charging output by selecting the charging mode.
P. S. Just looked and now they are $64.75. This is a great price.

ok just so I understand. If I get the cigarette style adaptor for my BatteryTender I can just plug that into the rear receptical and it will have the same effect as using the allegator clips from the BatteryTender directly on the battery? The only reason I am clarifying this as I did not see anything about this in the manual. Thanks to everyone for their help!I can pl

Owners manual 10-30
Plug the battery maintainer into the rear
Accessory Power Outlet (APO). The
front APO turns off after the Ignition
is off.
I ordered it and used it. Works great! I guess they either work or don't. But I needed one anyway for both cars. My Ford Escape has that Stop/Start feature, if it is a feature, but it quit working and someone on the Ford Escape forum suggested to trickle charge the battery. That was the fix. Batteries can cause all sorts of issues with these new digital cars.

Looks fine, on the surface, lighter plug alone is worth it! Reliability is the only issue.
Have a Schumacher on my Street Rod and the first lasted about five years then the light said it was working but it had failed. Bought another (~$35) and it has been working for about 10 years. It is always connected.
For the C7 bought the Chevy equivalent from Amazon for about ~$65 but had to add the lighter plug. Seldom need to use it as it's driven 3 or 4 times per week and always about ~50 miles each time. If the one on the Street Rod fails will connect it.
I'm just learning about my new 2016 2LT Z51. The salesman showed me a socket with a protective cap under the hood (right side forward of the firewall). Is this where a Battery Tender or Minder plugs in. Purpose for me is to make sure the battery holds up during periods of non-use. Am I on the right track? I see recommendations for the CTEK and Deltran units. Which model is better suited for my car. Thanx in advance for any guidance.
No, it plugs into a 12v socket at the rear passenger side of the trunk/hatch. Both a CTEK or Beltran (BatteryTender™) work equally well for the task of maintaining the battery w/ a low amp charge.
I have no clue what your "salesman" pointed out under the hood or told you, but if he implied that was for a battery maintainer he knows next to nothing about the car.
