Base C7 Question
Which C7 is considered base? I know 1LT coupe is base but is 1LT vert a base; same question for 2 and 3 LTs coupes and verts.

The number definition such as 1LT-3Lt is not really a model, but a category of options to be input to the car you purchase. It is really apples to oranges. But base of the base in general terms would be a Stingray with 1LT. Hope this helps!

Generally a base car is considered the Stingray without the Z51 option.

I agree with all above. I had a base 16 stingray I ordered but lemon lawed it. I loved the car, rode better that Z51, GS, or Z06. Base doesn't have the big brakes/rotors and Mag ride, sway bars and bigger tires and wheels but if you want a softer riding sports car that has same engine as Z51 or GS that is the car for you.

As can already be seen here, not everyone uses "base" in the same way when it comes to Corvettes. It's not a term that GM uses (much like GM doesn't refer to the transmissions as "M7" and "A8"). To some, a "base" C7 is a Stingray without Z51. To others it's any Stingray. Yet others use the term for a 1LT car with or without Z51. When another person refers to a "base" Corvette, it's best to get clarification as to what they really mean.

Hi. I just got my 2016 maroon stingray with Z051 LT3. I noticed when u brought her home the front hood has what appear like "cut" marks on both sides lengthwise just in front of the air flow hood. I am attaching picture. Does anyone know if his is normal? I don't think I saw any of these marks when I was at the showroom. Any help is greatly appreciated.
What are these marks?

To me a Base C7 is a Stingray without the Z51 package and has only the 1LT option without any other options.

Can you feel if the line is the edge of paint protection film? If so, your choices are to have the film removed or to get rid of any wax residue that makes the edge more visible. If you have it removed, you can now replace it with film that covers complete body panels without seams or edges.

Look at your invoice and see if you paid for "protective film" on the front end. Dealers push this (XPEL) and you may have agreed to it without knowing what they were talking about.

This is correct. The Stingray with Z51 is NOT a base car. When I was shopping, the dealers said that the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT interior packages had nothing to do with whether or not it is a base, i.e. a Stingray without Z51 and with a 3LT option is a "base" car with 3LT.

Like I said, a base car has no options. A Z51 is not a name of a Vette just like a Z06 is not a C7 option.
The GS is a name of a Vette with Z06 handing/looks but you can't order the 'GS' option on a C7.
Moral to the story...no options=base car.

The definition of a word is how people use it. And on this forum a base car is a Stingray without Z51 period.
