Not true. Picked up both hp and torque with an aFe CAI on the Stingray. Did before and after dyno pulls. There is a thread in the tech section with all the numbers. They weren't a hoot on the C6. On the C7 there are small gains to be had w/o a tune. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-install.html
Grabbed a slightly used AFE but was not a fan of the design or install so grabbed a Haltech system, I have had one in my last 3 vettes. For those that have never had one , you will not understand . I am a fan of both the percieved increase on throttle response and the beast under the hood.
I just wonder how much of the improvements were due to the less restrictive filter and what was the result of the CAI itself. The less restrictive filter obviously doesn't filter as well as the OEM element.
I would go with the filter first. Ordered an AIRAID...
....an Afe as well; had CAI's (mostly K&N) on most of my Vettes in years past. My mechanic (and many of you) are right, claims of 15 hp may be legit but they are up in the rev range and on a 455 hp car, 15 hp ain't gonna do a whole lot BUT I have found it rev's more freely and sounds alittle nicer and since I can't afford and won't do things like headers, superchargers it's the one upgrade I can do that's simple, relatively cheap and helps alittle....maybe someday I can scrounge up the currency to do an exhaust but even that is abit spendy for my situation.....
