Base dyno pull/aFe install
So at 10:30 sharp, Matt at 21st Century puts the car on the dyno. Bone stock. It is nice and cold inside the shop. Right around 50 deg. 390.8 rwhp/407.1 torque. Dead center of the box as it were for what they are seeing on a non modified car. Then the tech did the CAI install. Looks way better than the stock air intake system. aFe even packs a license plate frame and a bunch of decals and stickers. My grand daughter has plastered those on her electric Corvette and the 3 wheeled electric trike already. As soon as my ARH mid-length headers get here we will do another set of pulls before and after they are installed. Wth, it's only money ...............
I was expecting to see another dyno run with the results of the AFE intake as the only mod. If you dyno after the AFE and the headers, you will not know how much each mod gave you. Since it's only money, it would be good to see what each part adds on the dyno.

That is exactly what we are planing on doing. On the day my headers are installed, prior to doing so, Matt will do another set of dyno pulls. Specifically for the purpose of giving us concrete numbers from the CAI. I will already be well over the minimum 200 mile figure established by aFe needed for the ecm to make the necessary adjustments to the system.
Makes sense. Interested in the numbers for the CAI. As I'm sure you know, there are many that are adamant an aftermarket CAI will not make more HP and the HP gains advertised by the manufacturers and retailers are BS.
Perhaps you being an unrelated party to a manufacturer or retailer will provide some validity to the dyno results. I think you will see a gain of 10-12 HP. Keep us posted.

Your numbers are spot on based upon what Matt has seen so far on the ones 21st Century has installed. Without question, there are some out there that simply do not provide gains where it is needed most, that being in mid range. Sadly, many base their statements upon what was on the market for prior generations too. The ones for the C6 were a joke to say the least. Considering from where GM was trying to draw air, no one should be surprised.

I think a lot on this board are. I will say one thing, I noticed that the longer I drove after the install, the more responsive the throttle seemed to become to small inputs. I attribute that to the system adjusting to the less restrictive flow through the a/c.

The numbers would have been more accurate if you did it on the same day.
Since the AFE is easy to install/remove, add it then dyno, then add headers, then dyno, then install the stock intake and dyno.
1) Base
2) with AFE
3) AFE + headers (and tune)
4) headers only (and tune)
It's only adding swapping the intake + an extra dyno. Now that would be R&D.
With the mid-lenght ARH's I think most people are not tuning (won't throw a CEL and doesn't affect the ECM and warranty issues). Someone recently posted 25 HP with just the mids and no tune.
With headers and AFE my guess would be 30 at the wheel

Did you go with the catted or catless mids?
Catted. The headers are somewhere between here and there because of the holiday season. Matt figures they will show up next week. ARH had ten sets in stock last week when they were ordered so supply isn't the issue.

That is what 21st Century is expecting. I will be very pleased with that gain.
If you see that kind of gain I will be VERY impressed, and consider upgrading to them myself
To confirm, you plan to leave the stock ECU/tune untouched? I am excited to see your results because that will give us concrete evidence on the gains between ported/coated manifolds and ARH mid-lengths since 21st is the one that did my install and before & after dyno pulls.

Curious why you went with mid length headers and not long tube? I know you have a Borla X-pipe so perhaps that's the reason. Or, you don't want to do a tune and you can get away with no tune with mids/cats and still get a decent gain in HP and no CEL and no warranty issues.

9am next Wed. is when the car goes back on the dyno. After that and it cools down is when the mid length headers and high flow cats go on. Then I get to drive it again long enough to let the ecm re learn. Then we'll do another set of pulls.
