Well, Matt did the dyno pulls with the aFe on first thing this morning. I haven't seen the printout yet. I asked about doing pulls right after the header install. Total waste of time and money was his response. Because they have to pull the main power feed to do the header install it would make no sense he said, for the exact reason you mention. The entire system will now have to relearn everything. Damn good thing there's a deli just down the block. This is going to be a long day

9 hp gain with the aFe CAI. Dyno sheet is in the car and I'm simply too damn tired to go out to the garage to get it. Iirc, there was a gain of about 5 ft pounds in torque. For the $450 I paid for the aFe, it's inexpensive hp and right in line with what we expected. I'm sure the oiled filter would have better gains. Next we will dyno the headers. With luck, this coming weekend. All depends on if Matt has any tunes on the schedule that cancel out.
+9whp/+5wtq, nothing wrong with that at all, and still a better bargain than our NPP exhausts I've been running the AFE for almost a year and a half now and have been been very satisfied with it. I have tried both filters, but settled on the dry version for street use since it filters better and is easier to clean.
Merry Christmas ........ You will be getting new cats per Nick Filippides. He was not aware of your issue till I appraised him of it today. Evidently you have the old style cats. Watch for a pm from him. Cut and paste of his email to me: Michael, I just had a chance to read Russ’ post. We will PM him and arrange sending him the 49 State cats we now offer. His system has the previous version. He will not have to deal with that any longer. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Sincerely,
Nick Filippides

I am very happy with it. Even happier with the ARH install. Can't wait to get the car back on the dyno. It pulls very smoothly. No cel in over 200 miles between my son and I driving it. Made sure we did full engine shut downs to let things cool a bit before restarting. I feel Matt and crew hit the bulls eye on the first round. He did btw use the supplied gaskets. ARH has a huge hard to miss red w/black lettering warning sign attached to the new gasket set advising not to use the factory gaskets.

Seems right in line with my aFe only dyno as well. FWIW, as I had mentioned previously, I saw zero difference between the oiled vs. dry filter on an otherwise stock car. In your case (even with mids), I'd stick with the dry for its better filtration efficiency.
Thanks for posting real-world results. Glad you're happy with it. As a stand-alone mod (which is the case for many with a CAI) I don't consider spending $450+ to gain 9 RWHP or 5 lb-ft of torque a good investment at all. Combined with other mods it may make more sense.

That's why I added the headers to the mix. It'll be interesting to see what kind of gains that brings to the party.
Thanks for the heads up on the gaskets. I bought a set of OEM gaskets that I plan on using since they work so well with headers.

7LitreC5, I look at it this way, 21st did as requested by Nick @ ARH by using the supplied gaskets that came with the headers. Should any issues develop down the road so to speak, it's going to be on ARH's shoulders.
