First question was: It the owner's manual right? Should have know, their "sources" as they called them said yes!
I asked, "If it's correct is the location some forum members say can be used?" Funny took several PM's and the Chevy customer support person said. "Can't get an answer from my Sources!"
Then asked, "Where is it?" Got the same answer. Dawned on my that GM can never say a statement is incorrect! Lawyers for injured people you know!
The statement just disappeared form subsequent manuals!
Reminded me of what I told, what we called Phone Doctors that help distributors and fabricators troubleshoot our welding/cutting products. Having heard a complaint from a quality distributor repair station (they are mostly all gone now) about a comment he didn't believe- "Never heard of That Problem Before" I told all: Even if you never heard of a specific problem before that is NOT what the person on the phone wants to hear! Just ask some questions so you can help!
Now, the issue is, getting the jumper clamp on the 12 volt terminal has to be done carefully. There are plenty of ground locations easily accessible on the frame under the alternator.
I use these terminals to connect my maintainer for winter storage because they are more accessible for the way my car sits on the lift and the electric supply. No cable running out of the trunk at the wrong end of the car.
