Really perplexed. Got 3500 miles on my 16 z51 with the A8 tranny. Where I live in SC there are may roads long and straight where the speed limit is 60. So heres the problem. I any driving mode at anything over 55 I can feel a skip or a miss and the tac bounces up and down around about 100rpm's. Now I drop it into manual mode and everything smooths out. My dealer looks at me like I've got two heads. There are times that when i try to put a load on it say in 6th or 7 gear I get a hesitation. I need something to take back to the dealer weather its the FMS or torque converter or tranny. My car was built before October 2015 therefore there may be an issue with the torque converter or transmission as I have read here on the forum. Anyone out there with similar issues and what was the cure??? I love the piece to death but its starting to get to me.
Thanks.
Sounds like you're gonna get a new tc soon. There's also some triple flush fluid replacement procedure GM is trying. What strikes me as odd is your dealer acting like they don't know about this. How can they honestly not know about this problem?

Thanks for the quick reply. Not really looking forward for some mechanic taking apart the bottom end of my car but it is also what I suspected by reading other posts. I was hoping more for the FMA issue.
My buddy was driving down to visit us in Florida and his tranny did the same thing. Fluctuating RPM while on the interstate. He had to go to manual mode. His is also a 2015 w/ a build date prior to 2014. His was one of the early ones that could not be re-flashed. He had to do the driving reset (which didn't work).
His mileage is close to 40K now.
He's had a number of issues with his 3LT coupe. HUD tilt, intermittent turn signal clicking, center stack going dark and a few more that I can't recall. All have been slowly resolved over time, next up will be the transmission or so he's told me. The tranny lurching, surging, etc., have been going on from nearly day one. My guess he'll get a new TC after they do the three flush.
Seems the transmission problems are not limited to the Corvette. I am not excited about the transmission in my 2016 Colorado truck. You have to drive in a way so the transmission has enough time to acquire the proper gear!

I hate to say it but ALLOT of GM A8's (trucks , cars) have the same stuff happening to their A8 tranny's.....reminds me of Samsung recalls without the fire!

my 2016 Z51, A8, built 10/15, 6400 miles, no issues YET!!
Here's what I was given by my local dealer in response to my similar complaint for my 2015 Z51 A8.
My dealer kept telling me my car was normal. The problem was the condition was so irritating I couldn't operate the car in drive. I used the Range AFM disabler and finally sold the car. I want another C7, but with a manual.

Your problem is your dogs are too good lookin so that's why the car never measures up.....think!

my 14 silverado clunks up and down, hesitant to engage at full throttle. Wish I never traded my 08..

I have been watching this on the GM trucks Website too. My Corvette is an M7, but my 2015 GMC Sierra CC has the 6.2/ 8A combination. I had some 2-1 slam downshifts at about 1500 miles. The dealer did the re-flash etc. I have 18k miles on it now and it shifts great!
My wife just bought a Cadillac XT5 and the 8A in that has been smooth as silk -but we only have about 600 miles on it LOL.

That's right, the rest of their fleet car/truck are getting re flashes that work from what I've read.

Don't know where you bought it but I am in Savanah and went to Reichenbach...They don't move many vettes. My base was built mid Oct 2015 as well but no issues. So far so good.

Thats where I bought mine. Picked it up January 11 2016. I've had it in for the 500 mile oil change and two recalls on computer issues. I spoke to the service manager about the tranny problem but the discussion was short. I'm going to bring it in again in the next couple of weeks and have them address the issue. The only way the car is smooth is in manual mode. If you know rt 278 manual mode can be a pain in the ***. The only reason I bought the automatic is the slight chance that my wife may want to drive it. That will never happen. My hope is they have a mechanic that is Vette savvy.
Has anyone looked into the active fuel management process and engineering? On my 16 Z51 I get the same fluctuation in RPM's as well. It's only when transitioning from V8 to V4 mode. I question if what people feel is truly a surge. If you're really in-tune with your car you can tell when it's changing but it is definitely nothing abrupt and most people can't feel it.
I'm thinking the AFM adjusts the torque converter because the available power is different. The reason I think this is because I have a 16 Yukon with the 5.3l and the 6 speed transmission in it and it does the exact same thing as my vet. It's only when shifting from v8-v4. No surge problems, sometimes stumbles to find the right gear when you come to a stop and don't fully stop but everything feels right about it.
What do you guys think? Could the AFM engineering be designed to release the torque converter slightly because of the transition from V8-V4?

Reason: Wasn't done typing :)
You need to find a dealer who has changed out several torque converters. Practice makes perfect. Your shuddering will get worse. I had my TC changed out 18K miles ago and the transmission has been flawless. You will love your car again.!!!
