Default Bra for a C7

We're getting ready to leave for our Rt 66 at the end of the month. Everyone I talk to says I should get a bra. I'm not interested in a clear bra. I would like to get one that is removeable. The issue I'm running into is my front cameras. Nova-stretch covers them, so they're out. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money. Does anyone have any suggestion?

I used a Novastretch on my way back from the museum to California. I did like that air goes through it so I felt it wouldn't move around and mess up the paint as much as a traditional one.

I didn't like the camera obstruction. Had I thought about it I might have just clipped holes in it since it was going to be a one time use thing for me, that would have exposed the cameras.

I also didn't like the coverage of it, doesn't go up far enough, I got a chip up by the headlights.

I now have Xpel on the whole car. If you have the time, I'd get clear bra put on and just be done with it.

There is also a TON of gravel out there on Route 66, the roads are just HORRIBLE in some spots. My but was cringing on a lot of it....

I do think the large rockers my car has saved me a ton of damage.

If you do the clear bra, I would not do just the bra, get the lower rockers done, mirrors, etc. I think there are three levels, the third would be getting the whole car done, level 2 which would get the rockers and 1 would be just the bra. Level 2 is the minimum buy in from my perspective.

On my Watkins Glen Gray car it is so hard to see it, even on the mirrors, I have to point it out to people.

3M 900000 Paint defender cost about $18.00. You spray it on and it dries to a clear film to protect against rock chips and bugs, etc. When your trip is complete you just peel it off.
Never used it myself but product reviews are good.

I originally had the GM front cover Bra which came apart around the side marker lights.

Recently bought the Cover Craft Bra that I just install for trips on the interstate and off for around the neighborhood.

The Covercraft Bra is very well built, soft backing, and I think it was under 200 bucks from Auto Anything There are openings around the grill area that might be O.K for your camera. ......some pix on their website.

Speed lingerie has the openings for the camera, are high end ,color matched to your car but not cheap, I think round 700.

From the photo on the Covercraft website it looks like it doesn't cover the cameras. I sent them an email to ask for confirmation. They're only $129.00, so I hope they will fit properly.

Thanks for your help

I got the bra with my 2014. Ordered it when I ordered the car. Had a seam problem as was mentioned, but they replaced it with no hassles. It's a chore to put on, but offers great protection and looks good. This will be the 3rd year with it and a lot of travel miles.

I have the 3M clear on my nose, it's like a wrap but transparent. Love it.
Don't really like the black bras, had them on a few Camaros back in the 80s, they do cause minor scratches.

OP, that sounds like a really good price.

As much as I hate the look of the Bra I have used it now for 3 years for our 1500 mile drives on the interstate from the north to Florida and back in the spring. I hate the look of it when its on but I really like washing/waxing the car and seeing NO chips on the front at all......small price to pay.

I found a GM bra at my local Chevy dealer for $140.00. It should leave the cameras uncovered. I'll know more tomorrow when I get it and install it.

Again, just be careful with bras. They can do more damage than they are designed to protect from.

Same thing I was gonna say. After my GM Bra fiasco I went with the Colgan. I haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it's as good as the one we use on the wife's Mustang. Thicker, and better design than the GM. Sure they are ugly, but they protect better than the cloth, or plastic covers when a larger high speed projectile comes at you from a big rig that just passed you on the interstate. I know this from experience.

Here's why you don't want the GM Bra. It's a bad design, and thinner than the Colgan. Basically a piece of crap.

For me, I'm just not a big fan of how any of the bras look. They cover up some pretty key design points of the Corvette that I think just look amazing. It's worth the extra money IMHO to do a clear bra for that reason alone.

Not cheap, but then again you get what you pay for. We have a Speed Lingerie. Fits like a glove, has never left a mark on the paint. Ditto on our C6 before our C7 - never left a mark. And they wear like iron. Great protection for the nose, hood and mirrors. Wouldn't use anything else. Again, not cheap but worth every penny in my book.

You're right, those are expensive. And it still does not cover a key area (circled in pic), this is the exact area I had a chip while using a stretch bra. For a little more money you can get a clear bra that you won't know is on there or have to remove whenever you clean your vehicle AND get more coverage.

RVC checking in,

I use the novistretch and it works well for my needs. I always wash and wax before I install it.
