I have an android phone , LG K7 and if I have the bluetooth on (which I always do) I can not hear the voice directions through the speakers or the phone. It just mutes out. If I receive a phone call and am talking to someone the voice comes through the speakers.
Any suggestions or has anyone experienced this ??? Thanks , Chris ,
The dealer paired my phone when I picked up my new vette. It played songs (through Bluetooth), but phone calls were muted. Couldn't find the problem initially, but I unpaired the phone and went through the pairing process from the beginning again. It subsequently worked correctly. Worth a try!
Well I guess the first question would be - where do you expect these voice directions to be emanating from? If you are using the factory nav then they should come through the speakers even if you throw the phone out the window (provided you have not muted voice directions on the factory nav).
If, however, you are using some sort of navigation utility on your phone, and assuming you don't have that muted, then, assuming you are really using Bluetooth, do you have your phone paired with your car? If so you do realize that in Bluetooth there are "profiles". One profile is for phone calls. Uses a lower frequency (it's a phone call after all) and will use your car's speakers and microphone.
Then there's the Bluetooth "Media" profile. This profile is meant for, well media - music. spoken word, things not from a limited, active telephone connection. So, do you have your phone's Media Bluetooth profile connected to the car? Finally is the volume up on your phone.
You don't need to re-pair - you just need to go into your phone's bluetooth settings and make sure that both the phone and media Bluetooth profiles are connected to the car. Bluetooth pairing just establishes a secure connection between devices. Even so, you need have the proper profiles activated and connected for them to work.
Don't know. Never "set up a media profile" for my phone or rather when I connect my phone to the car (pairing it or later when it just connects) if I go into settings Bluetooth there are two profiles listed.
On my S7 running Nougat (though other Android phones are similiar) I pull down on the shade and tap and hold the Bluetooth icon. I named my car "Blue Thunder" which you see at the bottom. It's not connected right now:
Next I tap on the gear icon and it shows me the Bluetooth settings for Blue Thunder:
As you can see, while they are not currently toggled on, there is a "Call audio" and a "Media audio" setting. When I get in my car it will flash up on the DIC - Bluetooth Connected. You get that when "Call audio" (for the phone) connect. You get no such indication for Bluetooth Media audio connection. Apparently most people think that Bluetooth and phone means phone calls only. Witness most Bluetooth headsets that only occupy one ear!
In any event, when connected to your car, check the properties for your Bluetooth connection on your phone. If it doesn't say phone and media, tap on the gear and toggle on media.
Whew! After all that I hit Post Quick Reply here and received some errors from the corvetteforum.com web server! It said that CloudFlare and some other thing worked but the corvettefourm.com server had a problem. The error message also said to try again in a few minutes so I ran and errand and hoped when I got back I could simply refresh and resubmit. Luckily it worked! I wouldn't want to have to recreate that post.
I hope my post helps you. If not then please describe your situation more thoroughly.
Check the following settings on your phone and within Google Maps. I believe you've already performed the first few, but 4-5 should do the trick.
1. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
2. Pair your phone or tablet to your car.
3. Set the source for your car's audio system to Bluetooth.
4. Open the Google Maps app Menu Settings Navigation settings.
5. Next to "Play voice over Bluetooth," turn the switch on.
