Gee, I never experience CAGS intervention when shifting my new 2017, must be the way I drive because my previous 2014 didn't block the shift either.

Like you, I rarely shift at very low RPM which takes CAGS out of play.

For the OP, "shifts like it should" apparently means the car should be shifted from 1st to 2nd between 16-19 mph.

That is the only time the 1-4 shift will ever be operational. Shift before, or shift after, and you'll never see it.

Me three. I have never noticed it once. I am used to lower powered turbo cars so I rarely shift under 4k RPM

I've been driving under powered stick shift daily drivers way too long and if I am not conscious of it I have a habit of shifting a lot in the 16-19 mph range. When that happens, I just pull it out of the 4th gate and back into the second gate in the same motion, then tell myself to pay more attention when I shift my C7.

People have been complaining about this since I think the mid 1990's and I've never understood why it so frustrating for some. On the odd occasion that it does occurre on my '17 I typically shift to third. I guess I'm not bothered enough to "fix" it.

I'll support your positive comments, always makes me chuckle with all the negatives from folks who won't skip a few Starbuck Lattes for the $20! Maybe they don't have a jack! (I won't waste my money on overpriced Starbucks; been drinking plan black coffee for 40 years! )

The fact that the forced 1st to 4th shift seldom occurs, IMO is the problem! Never happened in the 6 years I had my C6 since I installed a CAGS Eliminator when I got it. When I got my September 2013 built M7 there were questions about would it work since some CAGS Eliminators were not and it was thought perhaps like the Viper, GM was preventing it from being bypassed. Took a month or more for most suppliers to resolve.

I got in bumper to bumper traffic before I installed mine (very unusual in our rural area) and went to shift to 2nd and when it didn't go looked down to see if it was me messing up this new 7 speed. The car slowed a lot by the time I figured it out! That goodness the person behind didn't get a cell phone beep and was "compelled" to see who sent them a text! Not figuring the Corvette would slow with no cars in front of me and have been in my rear.

Yep, I don't see the 1st to 4th shift light in my normal driving, but just in case, it will never occur now!

Funny on an "All Girls Garage" TV Show this weekend they were installing an exhaust. One of the young ladies said, while I'm waiting for a hand, I'll install this CAGS Eliminator. She showed how and in two real time minutes it was done. Guess some of our Forum members can't do what a 25 year old gal can! Just kidding, I know all Forum members are Master Mechanics!
