I hate that feature, so mine is always off. I'd rather lock it with the fob when I want it locked. It still opens automatically when I walk up to the car w/ the fob in my pocket.
My 2017 grand sport wont lock by itself when I walk away.
Personally, I love setting it up so when I walk away it chirps the horn to let me know it locked. Like not having to fumble in my pocket for the remote & its just so damn cool when people ask how'd you do that?

I'm also a fan of the auto-locking with the horn beep. I love never having to take a bunch of keys or the fob out of my pocket when interacting with the car. Just walk up and go. Just get out and walk away. Better living through technology.
It has nothing to do with not embracing technology. I am early adopter on almost every type of new tech.
I have the luxury of keeping my cars in very safe and secure covered environments at both home and work. I like to be able to open the car at any time without having to have the fob with me.
On other vehicles, I have enabled auto lock and can't count the number of times I've had to go back into the house, or ride an elevator 10 floors back to my office to pick up the fob.
Yes, better living by knowing when and how best to use technology as it fits your personal requirements.
Hate my wife's Mercedes Keyless Go (a $700 option), where you still have to manually lock when you walk away from the vehicle...
All you gotta do is touch the door handle, right?
You guys kill me. I'll bet that nearly every one of us is old enough to remember when you had no choice but to use a key to lock and unlock most cars (at least on European cars - most American cars would let you use the button).
Why would you ever take your keys out of your pocket?!? Do you likewise take say your wallet it off your pocket?
Honestly I tend now to put my wallet in the secret compartment but that's because my keys are much more streamlined and less bulky than my wallet. Also helps me spend impulsively less.
The only problem for me with autolock is my 2016 Z06 and 2014 ATS have it but my 2006 GMC Sierra doesn't so I have to remind myself to lock the pickup. I am sure my friendly GMC dealer would be happy to rectify this issue by selling me a new pickup but I like my 2006 diesel with its fairly simple emissions equipment compared to current models.
It is designed not to lock with the fob in the car however I believe there are dead spots within the sensors field in the vehicle where the fob won't be detected which would allow the car to lock. I expect a low fob battery would make this event more likely.
If only one fob was sensed in the car and you leave it in the car the horn will chirp 3 times and the door will not lock. If you had 2 fobs in the car and you leave with one then it is designed to lock. The point of failure would be if the fob fell into a "dead zone" in the car while you are leaving then it would lock with the fob inside but the probability of this is quite low.
I'm also a fan of the auto-locking with the horn beep.
It is a horn or a beeper module?
I think alarm horn honking should be OUTLAWED. Talk about obnoxious! I had a neighbor who would hit his lock button on his remote from inside the house about five times for every car they had in the driveway about midnight, because they were too lazy to get up to check lights. Woke me up every damn night. Anything loud enough to wake people up just to set an alarm is just not right.

While I use autolock on my C7... When I think about all my previous cars, inserting the plain old metal key into the tumbler after exciting was never a negative experience. Tech is a funny thing.
